Overlooking the intriguing ruins of an old monastery, The Castell Mynach near Cardiff delivers traditional British pub cuisine in a beautiful country atmosphere, but remains comfortably close to the city. The seasonally prepared food can be enjoyed in front of the cosy log fire, or al fresco from the beer garden with views of the monastery.

Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The Castell Mynach menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while The Castell Mynach ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.

Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.

The Castell Mynach is a mere 7-minute drive from Pontyclun and is in Llantrisant.

Restaurant service was good. Food was very average and could have been better.

Warm greeting. First waitress very friendly for drink order/ food order. Drinks arrived.
We then waited nearly 30 minutes for food to arrive. When finished another 10 minute wait for dishes to be removed. Asked for dessert menu which arrived promptly. After 25 minutes waiting for our order to be taken I went looking for someone to enable me to pay my bill. Went to a local ice cream parlour for our dessert. My daughters birthday meal was a disaster. After many years of frequenting the C. M. -Never again!

    Always come here for special
Occasions... much prefer to be in the restaurant rather than the bar area for food. Took a while for drinks to arrive and the initial contact by staff even though the dining area was quieter than usual. Food was superb and well
    Worth the wait.

    Excellent Sunday roast

  • (**** 14 March 2017 by Karen from Pontyclun

    The experience was very disappointing
The table did not have the correct cutlery
Who starts a Sunday lunch with no stuffing of lemons for drinks
The meal when it arrived was dry ... meats and veg over cooked and over priced

The staff are fridndly and gave us a superb table as requested for my sons 21st birthday celebrations. The food is very small portions metered out in small pots. The plates were freezing cold and this meant the meals were also cold and as some of us had steaks it ment the steak was cold too. My sons hunters chicken was fabulous tho and thats what matered. The staff lit a birthday cake and brought it to the table so as far as Im concerned the staff are brilliant. The reason we didnt make a fuss and complain was because we were celebrating and it didnt feel apprpriate. But the taste of stone cold battered onion rings is really fowl next to a yummy tasting cold steak. Overall the meal would have been superb if it was hot.
