Bit of confusion as they have recently changed hands but the general/duty manager sorted the issues out and even gave us all a glass of bubbly

The afternoon tea was fabulous although they were surprised when we turned up.
Service was fantastic, although when it came to paying there was nobody about. We sat at our table for 10 minutes after finishing out tea and nobody came anywhere near us.
We had to go to reception and they went to find someone to assist but there was no one around.
In the end we just paid the Reception staff

When we arrived we told the staff we were there for afternoon tea by the sea. They were in the middle of lunch service and we got the feeling they were not expecting us. One waitress went to ask another about our reservation and then did not come back to tell us anything, she just walked past us. We then had to wait for someone else to come seat us.
Our tea arrived fairly quickly and we were able to choose our own finger sandwiches which was a nice detail. On the website it said that this high tea came with cola cubes, ice cream and candy floss amongst other things. However, we did not get the first two and we got 2 bits of candy floss even though there was 3 of us. But I do have to say that the scones and the sandwiches were delicious. Staff was quite attentive and made sure we were happy. We got charged for the 'normal' afternoon tea instead of the slightly more expensive afternoon tea by the sea, probably because they ran out of a few things like the cola cubes. Overall we had a great time and I would recommend this to anyone, just don't expect perfection.

When we first arrived, we were directed to sit and wait outside a bar, where the staff wouldn't even acknowledge us. After waiting for twenty minutes, we were finally showed that our table is ready. We didn't even get a chance to order our choice of tea when they brought two pots in, and ten minutes later they came and asked us which afternoon tea we had booked and asked which sandwiches we wanted. We made our order, and then proceeded to wait for AN HOUR for our food to arrive. During our wait, there was literally no staff around and no one to ask how long it'd take for our food to come. We finally found the waitress who had been serving us (who had been nothing but rude and nonchalant the whole time), and she told us that there had been a problem in the kitchen and our food hadn't even been prepared. After the appalling service and experience we and our fellow diners had experienced (the table next to us said the only reason why they paid was because they had a gift card), we had had enough and decided to go eat somewhere else. Absolutely appalling service -- it's a shame because the food looked nice.

Really disappointing. The food was OK, but only OK. The waitress had a really bad attitude and didn't seem to know the menu's. It took over an hour for the afternoon tea to arrive, but our table was lucky. The table next to us ordered and waited as long as we did only to find out the waitress hadn't ordered their food so they just left really annoyed. We went as a group of 5 and paid £120 for sandwiches, cake and expected a treat but in summary we got mediocre food and poor service, I wouldn't recommend it. Poor value for money and a rip off, really but a bit damper of my best mates birthday.

Fab food, great selection but service was slow. Only two staff, not their fault at all, they did a really good job but they were run off their feet!

It was a delicious variety of cakes, the choice of sandwich fillings was a good selection. The waitress was a delight an overall brilliant time

Lovely afternoon tea. On arrival they had no record of our booking, even though we had booked many weeks in advance. They were not busy so managed to fit us in with no problems
