A rare combination under one roof, The Butcher and Grill comprises a modern butcher shop, an informal restaurant and a casual bar. Emphasising the quality of the produce from their own butcher counter, the staff aim to offer a good service in a simple setting. You can order from the butcher counter or from the menu, featuring high quality meat cuts, simply grilled or roasted, alongside potato dishes, vegetables or salads. A range of slow braises and stews are also served in the winter. The decor highlights the art of Ian Wilmott's abstract images of Smithfield Market from days gone by, along with black and white photographs of animals in their natural habitat. Meanwhile, the bar offers coffee, patisserie and a full breakfast menu in the morning, whilst you can relax or celebrate with the diverse list of 75 wines, many offered by the glass, in the evening.

Went with my husband for dinner on my birthday. I really love the steak there but the service is really not good. Dirty glass on table, waited ages for our order to be taken, had to ask after 20min for the bread basket which should come automatically, messed up the payment - we paid twice because they had not checked if there was paper in the credit card machine then a lengthly process to reverse the situation. Hilariously they have a card on the table to nominate for a good service award!! Never again.

My husband and I have been going to the Butcher & Grill in Wimbledon Village for years so decided to take our friends who had never been. Can't believe how much downhill it has gone in just 2 months. The food was overpriced and awful - fatty and burnt steak (I asked for medium) - undercooked chips and cold vegetables. The waitress was sullen and unsmiling and then had the cheek to add a whopping 13.5% tip to the bill. I did wonder why the place was practically empty at 8.30 on a Thursday night (the Village was really busy at the time). Now I know why. Avoid.

Overall great food and steak, but cheap that I wanted to replace the mash/chips with new potatoes and was charged for the new potatoes ! Where is the client goodwill for eating basically the same food ?

When the Butcher and Grill opened 3 - 5 years ago, it was the best in the village for a beautifully cooked meal. However a few years on and there are empty tables on a saturday night, okay bread and butter, wilted peas shoots with brown leaves and over done pork chop. Should do better if it wants to complete with the other restaurants in the village.

Dined 8pm on a warm Wednesday and perhaps for that reason it was quiet - not really a summer place? Good food as expected but atmosphere wasn't great - quiet.

My partner and I dined at 6:30pm on a Saturday. The food was suberb and the staff were very helpful. I chose The Butcher and Grill following a recommendation from my brother who described the restaurant as 'amazing!' We were not disappointed! We'll definitely be going again!
