The Good Pub Guide’s New Pub of the Year for 2014, The Bull’s Head is a traditional country pub in Macclesfield. Formerly an Italian restaurant, The Bull’s Head maintains a strong culinary emphasis with a contemporary gastro pub menu, served within a charming vintage interior.

Kicking off with refined starters like mushroom and tarragon soup and seared tuna with bloody mary jelly, The Bull’s Head menu is a diverse selection. Tandoori roasted cod is served with tasty sweet potato samosa, fennel and cucumber salad and almond rice pilaf, while juicy Olde English pork sausages and lamb, mint and suet pudding enjoy the traditional company of creamy mash, greens and gravy.

There’s also a range of light bites and a select kids’ menu at family-friendly Cheshire pub, The Bull’s Head. A sophisticated wine list and silky cask ales feature against a warm backdrop of bookshelves packed with antique literature, cream and turquoise walls, and polished wooden tables.

The Bull’s Head enjoys a tranquil spot in Mottram St Andrew, a 10-minute drive from the centre of Macclesfield.

As usual this restaurant was superb. Four of us each had a different meal, burger, roast beef, roast pork,lamb...all were red hot and deliscious. Service was great as each previous visit. Not the cheapest for Sunday lunch but certainly one of the best.

Had a fab meal as always, amazing food, friendly staff and a great atmosphere!
I always choose the Bull's Head for a great pub meal, just what it says on the tin!

Very good food and service as usual

Been twice recently, both mid week bookings and really enjoyed our meals so decided to take 2 friends with us for Sunday lunch. Staff here are very pleasant and the pub itself is very comfortable but we have to say that this time we were all very disappointed with the Sunday roast. Not a lot of flavour. The pork was dry and, the lamb quite fatty. Choice of vegetables was strange, three from the brassica family so very little colour.
Must say though that the desserts were very good .
An expensive Sunday lunch for the quality.

Slight delay in taking our order. After that, the service was excellent, the staff attentive, the food delicious and the atmosphere conducive to a great evening. Well done!
