Took my 88 yr old mother and we enjoyed a really tasty Sunday lunch . She can’t eat huge amounts and was given a smaller portion so managed to finish the lot! Very friendly staff who looked after our needs well. Will go back!

At the heart of the picturesque village of Ditchling inside the South Downs National Park, The Bull Ditchling is a stunning 16th-century pub serving modern British flavours. Outside there is a tranquil beer garden with fruit trees and a kitchen garden, while inside the bar serves beers from the pub's very own brewery.

The Bull Ditchling menu crafts beautifully presented dishes that offer bold, modern takes on long standing British favourites, all using ingredients from the pub's own kitchen garden. Small plates to start include wood pigeon with celeriac and pickled wild mushroom, wild larger plate mains feature exotic international influences, seen with the tandoori crusted sea bream with onion bhaji and coconut and coriander chutney.

Pub classics are also served at The Bull Ditchling in Hassocks, including beef and oyster pie, and beer battered fish and chips. On Sundays, enjoy hearty roast dinners with a generous wine list, or try the beers from the pub's own brewery.

Also offering children's menus, The Bull Ditchling is a charming, family-friendly slice of pub tradition with polished modern updates. Plumpton Rail Station is just an 11-minute drive away.

    Tasty breakfast.
    Evening meal a little disappointing.

We had lunch at The Bull on a miserable, grey rainy day and the ambience and beautiful open fire did the trick to warm and cheer us. My friend is a real foodie and was blown away by the quality and presentation. She isn’t really a pudding person but opted for what she described as the best creme brulee ever. I loved my trout and the hand cut chips were wonderful and worth the calories. The service was efficient and friendly without being intrusive.

Nice place and the food was nice but my portion of the veg tart was very small and not enough for a full portion. My partner was only halfway through his meal when I had finished. Had to order cheese to fill me up which made it expensive.

SCott - my burger was excellent

My wife - roastlamb - the lamb was a little tough, the broccoli barely cooked, the grave watery, disappointing.
The service was very good. My wife was brought more broccoli.
