Restaurant description

At the heart of the picturesque village of Ditchling inside the South Downs National Park, The Bull Ditchling is a stunning 16th-century pub serving modern British flavours. Outside there is a tranquil beer garden with fruit trees and a kitchen garden, while inside the bar serves beers from the pub's very own brewery.

The Bull Ditchling menu crafts beautifully presented dishes that offer bold, modern takes on long standing British favourites, all using ingredients from the pub's own kitchen garden. Small plates to start include wood pigeon with celeriac and pickled wild mushroom, wild larger plate mains feature exotic international influences, seen with the tandoori crusted sea bream with onion bhaji and coconut and coriander chutney.

Pub classics are also served at The Bull Ditchling in Hassocks, including beef and oyster pie, and beer battered fish and chips. On Sundays, enjoy hearty roast dinners with a generous wine list, or try the beers from the pub's own brewery.

Also offering children's menus, The Bull Ditchling is a charming, family-friendly slice of pub tradition with polished modern updates. Plumpton Rail Station is just an 11-minute drive away.

Great food as always and fresh ingredients. The restaurant is light and a really nice place to be with comfy seats. Chloe served us and she’s always so friendly, chatty and has a smile which makes a world of difference.

The moules were excellent - along with the hand-cut fries. The salmon sandwich also very very good. My husband had the fish which was also excellent. I took my 100 year old mother - we were given great assistance to get her comfortable - and the service was wonderful - pleasant and welcoming.

Service was perfect. Portions were small. Beetroot salad had one small slice of beetroot! Risotto was delicious though. Lovely surroundings so will definitely be back for a pint after a walk, but probably not to eat.
