Restaurant description

A laidback riverfront bar and eatery overlooking the London neighbourhood. Pay homage to one of the world's most spectacular skylines. From a busy lunch setting all the way through to a chilled sunset, have cocktails and dine on the heated terrace with Tower Bridge in the foreground, this is the essential way to "Look at London".

Food and drink is globally purveyed and freshly delivered into the Vicinity to create an ever changing menu which serves the very best from world classics to street food inspired plates, including a range of pizzas, sandwiches, salads and platters, accompanied by a selection of cocktails, grand Champagnes (some by the glass), fine ales, steins and elegant wines. With a drink in hand gaze out on the sights of London, if you're lucky you can grab a seat next to a warming and flickering fire pit.

The Vicinity bar offers a great range of beers, an exciting cocktail list with classics and quirks, and a perfectly formed wine and spirit list.

On the water’s edge at St Katharine Dock, Vicinity in London is great for exploring the city’s historical landmarks. Tower Hill Tube Station is around a 10-minute walk away.

Great location and view and for that reason I would recommend this restaurant if this is your primary concern. The food was, however, something of a mixed bag. I ordered rare steak, and my partner ordered medium-rare. Both were perfectly cooked apart from the fact that a line of gristle and fat had inexplicably not been trimmed off which was unpleasant and inedible when we bit into it. It was easily sorted by trimming it ourselves but we were at a loss as to why it was not done by the chef. The green peppercorn sauce was a delight and was the star of the show. The remaining parts of the meal were oven roasted tomatoes and a watercress salad which were adequate rather than excellent. We also ordered two sides of veg and these were I'm sorry to say undercooked and bland in the case of the carrots and parsnips, and overcooked soggy and bland in the case of the spinach. The meal was a groupon voucher that I was given as a birthday present and as such it was a pleasant meal out with no major horrors. But I would not go back and spend my own money on a meal since there was nothing (with the exception of the green peppercorn sauce) that was great about the cooking. I would for example much prefer to go to Roast, the Blueprint, or the Oxo Tower on the opposite side of the river for what I think is far better cooking but also have the veiws.

I went to The Brasserie at the Tower Hotel with my husband for an afternoon tea. We really enjoyed the variety of food and the amazing view!

We were at the Brasserie for afternoon tea. Very nice table at the window overlooking Tower Bridge. Staff very attentive and pleasant. Disappointed in the sandwiches, very meagre. Scones and tiny pastries were good, and unlimited Prosecco for £5 was a bargain. However, tea consisted of a pot of hot water and a "posh" tea-bag, which did make two cups of very nice tea. We asked for another tea-bag and fresh hot water and were charged £2.95 for the tea-bag, which struck us as petty.
