Hotel is absolutely gorgeous - and the Brassiere is a really great venue overlooking the Thames, to take afternoon tea with friends. The restaurant is very clean & service was very good. Staff were very friendly and attentive. The only disappointment was the food itself. We felt the sandwiches were very “ordinary” for a hotel Afternoon Tea. We were expecting fillings like smoked salmon etc but instead had grated cheese & tomato, which seemed very basic. There was also cream cheese & cucumber, but to be honest, the cheese was spread so thinly that you could hardly taste it. It may as well have been just a “cucumber” sandwich!!
The cakes/scones were disappointing too - we all thought that they actually looked rather boring!! Once again, we were expecting something a little more special & bespoke. Having previously taken Afternoon Tea at other venues, we didn’t feel it compared favourably, or was value for money, for what we paid. Having said that, the actual venue, The Brasserie, is absolutely wonderful, a perfect location & setting and so we would return to eat there, but not for Afternoon Tea I’m afraid.
Also, we opted for Breakfast tea which was lovely, apart from the fact that the tea leaves had passed through the “internal strainer” of each of the individual teapots. It wasn’t very nice obviously, when having drunk most of the first cup, to get a mouthful of tea leaves!! A waitress then had to bring us tea strainers to use, after we questioned why the leaves were coming through!
Apart from the disappointment of the food, we had a most enjoyable, relaxing afternoon at The Sir Christopher Wren Hotel

I visited the Brasserie for Afternoon Tea. We had a lovely seat by the window overlooking the river. The staff were attentive, polite, thoughtfully and excellent in every aspect. We had asked to be seated outside when I booked, but infact this is not an option, but by way of an apology we were given a complementary glass of prosecco. This was unexpected , generous and really quite wonderful! We had ordered two gluten free afternoon teas. The sandwiches and cakes were lovely. Fresh and plentiful. We could have asked for more should we have wanted. But there was plenty. The only item not up to the same standard as the rest were the scones. These were very disappointing , hard flat biscuit like, not at all like a scone at all. Perhaps difficult in gluten free? I think that perhaps the chef may not be familiar with the English Scone, because everything else was lovely.
There was a very relaxed and pleasant feel to the dining area. I would go back for a lunch.

A little disappointed. Not much to choose from on the menu, waitress rather be elsewhere, food was for the wrong market

Enjoyable tea, and amazing lemon tartlets. Lovely setting.

Also had breakfast next day - adequate, but nothing special. Setting though as stated was superb, and the people warm and welcoming.
