True to its name, The Bountiful Cow in Holborn is devoted to beef, with a menu headed by a fine range of steaks straight from Smithfield Market. A relaxed pub decorated with vintage prints, the lower floor of The Bountiful Cow hosts an open kitchen under the stewardship of eccentric head chef Roxy Beaujolais.
Whether it’s sirloin, T-bone or rib-eye, you can enjoy your steak with béarnaise sauce or with melted goat’s cheese, ‘a la Capricorn’. The coarse ground beef of the 14oz bounty burger comes with all sorts of toppings, or you could share the Bountiful Cow steakboard, with prawns, onion rings and tankards of chips.
Away from the beef, there are chicken club sandwiches, chargrilled sea bream and homemade sausage and mash, with lemony Greek salad and artichoke linguine among vegetarian choices. Belgian apple tart and crème brûlée give dessert time a continental touch.
Serving a range of flavourful world wines, The Bountiful Cow is a characterful London destination to enjoy the finest beef in town. A 3-minute walk from Holborn Tube Station, The Bountiful Cow restaurant is on Eagle Street, just off Red Lion Square.

We visited this restaurant on a Saturday evening, the location is away from all the hustle and bustle,and the interior is quirky and trendy. Our party had a lovely quiet table which meant we could enjoy our conversation. The food was excellent! The steaks were delicious! Everyone enjoyed everything they ordered, including side dishes and desserts etc. One of our party is a vegetarian and was also catered for with a lovely fish dish. All portions were also very generous, and service was very friendly and efficient. We will definitely be returning to this restaurant.

The Bountiful Cow is predictable, which is great, because it's predictably reliable. Gorgeous T-bone steak, I can't really imagine it better. They never look all that much - no fancy grill marks - but always taste amazing. Perfect, moist, truly flavoursome mushrooms. I like the flavour of field mushrooms but find the large proportions of the whole mushrooms a bit offputting somehow. So sliced up and sauteed, as here, is just the thing. Peppercorn sauce on the side with lots of whole peppercorns. Preceded by equally reliable, and predictably tasty garlic prawns. All simple, all great. I vary my choices very little, just which steak, occasionally the rabbit rillettes instead of the prawns, and which red wine by the glass (the white is also 100% predictable always the Waipara sauvignon blanc). Hoorah for predictable food in quirky cow-themed surroundings! Excellent value at any time; terrific with the special offer.

A hidden gem.......the steaks are superb, as was the rest of the food, the staff are really friendly and a relaxed atmosphere. We will be back the next time we go up to London.

Great restaurant almost hidden from the main road so a bit hard to find if you aren't looking for it.
Was worth it though, food was perfect (I had the fillet). We entertained around 12 people and not one complaint was heard

Location is a little off the beaten track but on recommendation from someone else decided to try it. What a brilliant experience. Service was excellent, food was fantastic and the prices for London were unbelievable. will be dining there again

Friendly speedy service. Tasty and well presented. Rump steak hash was perfect. Top class creme brûlée.
