With its thatched roof, crackling log fireplace and weathered mismatched furniture, The Bottle & Glass is a proper village pub, filled with history and a warm welcome. Gourmet British recipes are served alongside traditional ales, stouts and bitters, while outside there is seating to enjoy the tranquility of the area.

The Bottle & Glass menu showcases fine dining in this rustic pub setting. To start, there is treacle-cured salmon with cucumber, horseradish and cockles, moving on to game delicacies such as hay-smoked estate venison with celeriac, Jersey Royals and spring greens. For those after a nibble from the bar, there are treats like wild boar sausage rolls and scotch eggs that are perfect to pair up with an ale.

For dessert, there are truly indulgent recipes such as malted chocolate parfait with caramelised white chocolate and popcorn ice cream. Cask ales are on tap at The Bottle & Glass in Henley-on-Thames, alongside fine whiskies and international wines.

Blending timeless rural comfort with modern fine dining, The Bottle & Glass is a 10-minute drive from Henley-on-Thames Rail Station.

Having stayed many times for business meetings/retreats in an Airbnb house almost next door to The Bottle & Glass, I became something of a regular for a while. This time I took my partner there for her birthday dinner. The food was up to the usual excellent standard - hard to beat. I had the venison and my partner the sirloin steak. Both were delicious, as were the starters.

However, the service was not up to the usual standard. We had to wait quite a while for the glasses of champagne I ordered at the beginning and had to re-order the wine, as it had been forgotten, so it didn't have much of a chance to breathe. It was apparent, particularly as the evening went on, and the restaurant filled (full house I think in the end), the serving staff were struggling a bit. I think they may have been one person down on the night. It didn't spoil the evening but I'm afraid that I can't award 5 stars on this occasion, as has previously been my experience.

Also, as the restaurant filled, so the noise level crept up until I could barely hear my partner, although she was right next to me. Although there are (undrawn) curtains at some of the windows, the expanse of admittedly beautiful oak, glass and other hard surfaces means the noise bounces around and at one point reached quite unpleasant levels, as other diners raised their voices to be heard, before realising it was making things worse. Maybe drawing the curtains would help. Otherwise, some noise cancelling materials or devices would be a wise investment.

We last went here when it was a country pub and food was good. It’s stil a country pub with a beautiful restaurant and pretty tables on the patio. Food was excellent - 3 has the roasts and I had plaice . Everything beautifully presented and details thought about . Unusual desserts like marinated raspberries with cream cheese and raspberry sorbet. They were very busy as also serving pizzas outside but the service was relaxed and attentive. Will certainly go back

Waiting time was too long i was almost falling a sleep. 2 waiters came to our table to say sorry abiut the wait it was that bad.
It was a nice day a little windy. We eat inside 2 tables were next to be use and the bi folding doirs got open up. I didn't like this i did tell the waiter at the end. He said he could move me but i hate moving when eating my foods and gets bad stomach pain if i move too quick.

Also the 12% surcharge is really bad if i get good service then yes i will leave a tip. But we had to wait so long i wouldn't of left a tip.

Excellent food and service. The only downside no toilet paper in either of the ladies toilets. Such a shame for an otherwise delicious and lovely evening.

Had a delicious meal here. The staff were very friendly, and the quality of the meals was excellent. It was £20 for 1 course, £25 for 2 or £30 for 3 and they add a 12.5% service charge automatically, so a little pricier than most pubs. But they do provide free bread and water which was also nice. Main downside was that as the meal progressed, the service got slower and slower until by the end of our main course, we ended up having to walk off to find someone so we could pay and go, but our plates hadn't even been removed from the table at that point. We were there for around 2.5-3 hours, and had snacks, starters and mains. They also have quite a small selection of soft drinks in comparison to a lot of nicer restaurants I have been to.
