A charming rural pub with upstairs guesthouse, The Blue Bell Inn sources produce from the best Yorkshire providers to serve up a premium British gastropub menu. There is also al fresco seating for the warmer weather, and open fires for when it gets chilly.

The Blue Bell Inn menu boasts distinctly British flavours – to start, there are cider-steamed mussels, and sharing bites like ham hock and black pudding Scotch egg. Classic choices include beer-battered fish and chips, beef and root vegetable pie, as well as roast rump of lamb with crispy fried liver, fondant potato and red wine sauce. There is also a kids' menu, and a range of sandwiches served during the day.

There are sumptuous desserts served up at The Blue Bell Inn Harrogate, including homemade treacle tart, rum and raisin crème brûlée, and dark chocolate and orange mousse. The wine list is extensive and features regularly changing guest bottles, and there is also a great choice of beers and cask ales.

With a homely ambience and classic British comfort, The Blue Bell Inn is 22 minutes' drive from Harrogate Rail Station.

This is a lovely restaurant. The ambience and decor is good. Real fire and sofas in the bar area and the restaurant is decorated stylishly. The menu is extensive, suiting big eaters and those wanting a 'light bite'. The only problem I had on my lunch booking was that the service seemed slow from the kitchen (understaffed in the kitchen perhaps?). Waiting staff were friendly and polite, though. I have been a couple of times and will go again. It's good.

Food delicious. Unfortunately, the vegetarian option was tiny. Two stuffed mushrooms and a two by four cm slice of dauphinoise potatoes with some peas sitting forlornly in the middle of the plate. The portion size was so much smaller than those of the meat eaters sitting around me, yet cost more than my Dad's posh fish and chips. I was fuming, disappointed and hungry.

we just wanted light lunches and, although we have stayed and enjoyed delicious breakfasts, we didn't know what lunches would be like. Our friends had the toasted ciabatta with bacon and brie - delicious - and we had fish - me the crusted and Steve the battered and they were both outstanding. The fire was blazing, the service excellent and our friends (visiting from Suffolk) said it was the best pub they had been to in a long time!

We met a friend here for lunch and we were all very impressed with the surroundings and food.
The waiting staff were excellent, attentive and particularly helpful to my friend who is Gluten intolerant.
