We had a wonderful time at the Black boy. It was mum son’s birthday and they kindly brought the cake and lit the candle for us

The service was very slow. though the food -- when it eventually arrived -- was good. We sat in the restaurant area, away from the bar and the "action," and it seemed as if we'd been forgotten.

Waiting staff very friendly. Salmon burger excellent. Shepherds pie was just okay, potato was luke warm and hadn't been browned in oven, meat was tasty as we're vegetables. Reasonably priced.

The food was good at the Black Boy. However we weren't greeted well (the promised menus and drinks at the table didn't appear so we got them ourselves). The pub seems to lack a friendly atmosphere so we probably wouldn't go again other than perhaps for a drink by the lovely fires.

The drink and food was amazing and we love going to the black boy when we can because it is a nice relaxing place to unwind after a busy week at work with great and friendly service ever time we go, me and my wife give it 10/10

Such a shame the service was so poor. Inexperienced staff. Starter bought wrong no apology. Mains 1hr 15 mins from arriving. Toddler in high chair sat by a roaring fire. No guard. We moved toddler much to their displeasure whuch showed. Not made to feel welcome. Asked several times for things. No apology throught. Quick to take your money. . All in all. Won't be going back.
