Restaurant description

Built in the early 1600s, The Bears Head offers quintessentially British fare and old pub favourites from an accomplished and diverse menu. Teeming with ivy, a sprawling flagstone courtyard sits alongside the black and white timber-clad exterior, while inside, chunky wooden furnishing and crackling open fires punctuate the dining area.

Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The Bears Head menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while The Bears Head ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.

Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.

The Bears Head in Sandbach is just a 4-minute drive away from the popular Brereton Heath Local Nature Reserve, which boasts a 40-hectare park, lake and woodland.

Hunters chicken was fabulous. We loved the fish and chips, risotto and the children loved their pizzas. Brownies and ice cream ruled okay!

I went with my dad and one of my sisters to have a nice Sunday lunch. We were not disappointed. The service was slow which was the only downside but it was very busy. The Sunday roast was lovely and I had Eton Mess for desert which is my favourite. We all enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. I think they need more staff when its that busy thats all.

Great atmosphere with open fires. The food was disappointing. The flavours didn't complement the dishes. I had scallops with black pudding. The pea and mint puree was too strong. The wholefood salad was too sweet too much honey. Just glad I got 20% discount via aa.

Good food at a reasonable price Had to wait for a table despite booking online as the system had failed to book us in despite having a confirmation. We were then told we could not have waitress service as the table we had been given was not in the restaurant section, this was eventually resolved but started the evening on a bad note.
