We dine at the Bay about once or twice a year usually for a special occasion. We have always loved the experience especially the attentive service and the food so we didn’t hesitate to book to take my parents out while they stayed with us for Christmas. When we arrived this time the atmosphere was palpably flat. We arrived early to start with drinks and were seated but the waitress didn’t take much care over us although she was polite. She plonked down the drinks withtout much care. This service continued in the evening. It wasn’t awful by any means but it wasn’t what we are used to. The menu choice was a bit limited but ok. The starters came in good time. I chose the goats cheese salad but I hardly got a teaspoonful of cheese. My mum’s salmon was overly salty. My husband’s hock was also slightly measly even for a starter. The mains were the most disappointing. My hisband and I chose duck. Both were overcooked and there was still water coming out of the bok choi. Mine had its hard root in which I had to cut out. The whole dish lacked seasoning making it bland which was such a shame as it looked lovely on the plate. Again portion small with not much garnish. The waitress had said we would get a couple of new potatoes so we sidn’t bother with a side. Mum’s cod was overcooked too. Dad’s steak was ok. Dessert was much better although I was not keen on the sheer quantity of cardamon slightly overpowered everything else. Another waiter asked us how the food was and we did tell him of our dissapointment. He said he would tell the chef. To be hobest if we disn’t have to get home at a reasonable time I would have considered sending the mains back.

Waiting staff excellent, I ordered the pheasant breast, came out in good time looked lovely. Then unfortunately I was underwhelmed no flavour, not hot plate was not warmed and the new potatoes tasted old rather than new, was gutted because I wanted it to be lovely. Breakfast was lovely great choice and lovely cooked breakfast started my day in style.

The staff were fantastic. The atmosphere is just right and the food was superb. The chef went out of his way to accommodate my request for chocolate brownies (which wasn’t on the menu) and his presentation of food was of a 5 star calibre.
All in all well worth booking.

What can I say? The food was exceptional. Absolutely gorgeous! The jus with the bavette steak was to die for. The steak was melt in the mouth.
It was my wife's birthday so the complimentary glass of prosecco was an added bonus. Overall the dining experience was faultless.

I didn’t like the main course I ordered, I didn’t think it was as described on the menu, I couldn’t eat it.
The waiting staff need some extra customer service skills and speaking English would be a bonus!
    It was very expensive.

It is a very nice restaurant with very considerate and helpful staff. Starters, fish and cheese courses are very good. Unfortunately, meat courses tend to be overcooked and hard to digest. Also there could be more variety - a table d’hote menu that varies from time to time, for example. Overall cost of the meal is reasonable and value for money.

Lovely little restaurant with polite, efficient staff who made our engagment celebrations memorable for all the right reasons. The food itself was beautiful, my partner had the steam plaice fillet and said it was perfect, I had the roast onion, herb and nut crust and it was so full of flavour, we also both had a side of new potatoes, not only were they cooked to perfection but there was plenty of them too. For dessert we both had the white chocolate and banana pudding and it was incredible! All the food was presented so professionally it was almost a shame to eat it, my partner also said it was the best meal he had all holiday, something I whole heartedly agreed with. We couldn’t quite believe how amazing the meal was considering the prices were so reasonable, we would of happily paid more! We will most definitely be returning when we are next in the area.
