Amazing afternoon tea - sadly let down by no service. We arrived were immediately served tea and coffee and again about 10mins later. Afternoon tea platters arrived about 15mins after that. I had pre-ordered 1 as gluten free - which had been confirmed on email. When I asked where my gluten free food was I got a blank look. Waiter came back around 10mins later will be 2 minutes. Around 20 minutes after that my food arrived (I would like to point out that it is excellent gluten free afternoon tea!) from that point we got nothing. For the next hour and a half we were not offered tea, coffee, water, checked if our food ok, nothing. We managed to call someone over for water for the table. One of our group then had to get up and find someone to request the bill, after she had finished serving another table. 20 minutes after the bill arrived we then had to get up and request someone bought a card machine to make payment. Such a shame - the afternoon tea both normal and gluten free was delicious. If the restaurant was packed out I could understand and it was busy when we arrived but by the time we left there were a handful of tables.

We love the Barn and have visited many times as my parents live nearby, but haven't been for a while. We were there for a birthday Sunday lunch. The staff were very young and friendly, but for the first time we felt things were disorganised, which has not been the case in previous visits. We arrived early and had a drink, but were not shown any menus and were not collected in time for our table, we felt that we might have sat at the bar all afternoon if we hadn't made ourselves known to be seated. Our order took a while to be taken, and we had to ask twice for the drinks we ordered, which arrived long after our first course. One of the dishes was cold on arrival and had to be sent back, when it came back, all the vegetables were missing. By this time most of our table had finished eating so we put up with it. It was a good meal, but spoilt by the disorganised service which we felt wasn't a lack of trying on their part but a lack of training and attention by the management. We didn't see or speak to a manager during the time we were there, and our experience would have been a great deal better if someone had been 'in charge', we felt the staff were just left to it.

There was a wedding in the main part of the venue which meant we were in the smaller room. The table were cramped and there was a bar in front of my legs so I could not tuck under the table comfortably. It was quite chilly too. The service was not that prompt and the position of the table meant the waiting staff had to regularly lean across us. The food was nicely presented, tasty and hot.

Enjoyed a very pleasant evening here with friends. Good quality food and service. We had to eat in the Colony Room as the barn was being used for a wedding.
