Set within a pretty coastal town, The Bakers Arms sits beneath a charming thatched roof, and serves classic British cuisine from a stretching menu. Inside The Bakers Arms in Dorset, a feature hearth houses a crackling log fire, alongside a largely candlelit dining room and secluded beer garden.
Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The Bakers Arms menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while The Bakers Arms ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.
Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.
The beautiful Brownsea Island is a half hour’s drive from The Bakers Arms in Poole, whilst Holton Heath Rail Station is a 5-minute drive away.

We were a party of nine and although the restaurant was busy as it was a Sunday lunchtime, we were not in a particular hurry so everything was fine. The food was generally good although a 'cold' sauce was served with a chicken dish and, as always, sauces were offered after the meal was served as is the case in most restaurants. Surely as soon as meals are ordered, the relevant sauces should be brought to the table automatically?? We had a delightful waitress who was smiley, pleasant and efficient....when we tried to find her before we left, she had already gone for lunch so we were told that her name was Jade? so hopefully this was right.

Cosy and comfortable. Meal served promptly which was a delicious roast turkey dinner , hot and very tasty. Waiter was attentive too and was recommending various beers and puddings for dessert as we were unsure. It was good value for money

The restaurant has a large seating capacity for dining both inside and out. We ate there twice, once on Friday and again on Sunday. On Friday the menu was very varied with options to eat a la carte or from a 'weekend treat' menu. The weekend treat offered 2 courses for £22 or 3 for £26 and included a bottle of wine (possibly only when 2 people chose from this menu). The food was very good and, although not as varied as the a la carte menu, there was sufficient choice to provide a very good meal. the atmosphere in the restaurant was very pleasant and the staff were very friendly. One nice feature was that water was regularly brought to the table as it was a very hot weekend. The only down side to eating there on Friday was that the service seemed a little slow but this did not spoil the experience.
Sunday was a little different with roast dinners being offered as well as the a la carte menu. Unlike a traditional carvery you chose which meat you wanted from the menu and ere served with vegetables rather than help yourself. However there were 3 choices of meat available and an option to have 1, 2 or 3 meats. The vegetables were sufficient to provide a very enjoyable meal and the service was quicker on Sunday.

Easy to book online (I booked for 6). Service was efficient and friendly. The food was wonderful (we all had Sunday roast) - well cooked and hot, plenty of it. The pub itself has a lovely atmosphere and well maintained. I've been here a number of times and will continue to do so as its not expensive.

Arranged to meet with inlaws for a lunch... one of whom had a dog which the Baker Arms catered for which is a big tick if you are a dog owner! We all went for a 2-course set menu choosing a verity of different starters... I had mushrooms in a mushroom sauce; it was okay... followed by a beef burger with bacon topping; which I thoroughly enjoyed and was the right choice for me. Others in the group had Fish Cakes, and Ham, Egg and Chips with one opting to have a dessert rather than a starter, which looked quite delicious with a large portion of Apple Pie with custard. Nobody had any complaints which is quite unusual for us... we went for a pub lunch and got an above average lunch in a gourmet sort of way. Overall very pleased with the experience, friendliness, and service of the staff
