Exceptional. My wife has allergies and physical ailments which were happily met by the chef and staff.

Edinburgh is home to the Georgian-style Scottish restaurant, The Atholl at The Howard Hotel. AA Rosette winner, this sought after restaurant is accompanied by a deluxe private dining area and a hidden garden.

The Atholl menu offers Scottish cuisine in the form of culinary delights like grilled Highland venison cutlets served with root vegetables and a port glaze. There is also a variety of conventional dishes with an Atholl twist like the succulent slow roasted pork belly, king prawns and coconut foam.

A luxurious taster menu is available in the Atholl’s private dining room, featuring specially prepared dishes like pan seared West Coast scallops served with Stornaway black pudding and a lemon & lime foam. On sunnier days, one can enjoy a pre or post dinner drink of Pimm’s & lemonade or a mojito in the garden.

Located in a Georgian town house, this historic theme creates a rich and warming atmosphere unique to The Atholl. The Atholl in Edinburgh is just a 5-minute drive from Edinburgh’s Waverley Train Station.

Afternoon tea at The Atholl--relaxed, unhurried, refreshing, delightful. Lovely tea, excellent service; a delightful way to begin our visit to the U.K.

Everything was lovely. We are staying 5 nights and cannot say anything negative about the service, food and facility. Intimate and calming. Had the lamb. Well Worth the sacrifice. Bottle of excellent wine recommended by Marchin, our Butler. Service cannot be beat. When we decided to retire to our room, we just had to say goodnight to Marchin and all was taken care of. A real gem of an experience.

Wonderful afternoon tea with 2 US students who loved it. Great service.

I chose the Atholl at The Howard because it looked to be somewhat off the beaten path and I was hoping for a high tea not packed with tourists. It was, indeed, just that, and quite charming. The chairs are big and cozy and I was able to read my book and enjoy the quiet. The tea itself was grand (Formosa Oolong) and the sandwiches tasty. The scones could've been a bit fluffier, but the homemade strawberry lemongrass jam more than made up for it. Overall, it was a lovely experience. The staff were very welcoming and helpful, as well.

It was a good experience and we enjoyed our food and day out. We were hoping for more timeous butler service. We were booked for 2pm but food came just before 3pm. Although we did pass the time in conversation, we were ravenous by the time food arrived.

We had a wonderful time! The afternoon tea was lovely, delicious food and a really good range of teas to choose from. We especially appreciated that we could try different teas. The staff were outstanding: helpful, very friendly and attentive without constantly hovering. Add the beautiful setting and you have a winner. I will definitely be back the next time I am in town. I only wish I could afford to stay there, too! Thank you for a lovely, relaxing experience.
