I have used this retaurant for special occasion meals a number of times now and have always found the 'experience' (food, wine, atmosphere and service) to be excellent whether choosing from the A La Carte or Set menu's. Last Wednesdays visit remained as impressive as ever.

One of Surrey’s oldest and most historic pubs and holder of a Michelin Bib Gourmand, The Anchor has held 2 coveted AA Rosettes since opening in 2013, and is the only pub in Surrey mentioned in The Good Food Guide as well as winning Surrey Life Magazine's Restaurant of the Year in 2017.

Head chef Mike Wall-Palmer has gained a sterling reputation for using local and regional produce to create dishes where flavour, taste and simplicity are the focus. Inspired by the seasons and reflecting the produce available, the Ripley Anchor menus change monthly.

From the bar, the signature Timothy Taylor ale is joined by a selection of guest ales and a wine list designed to suit all tastes. Every month a choice of wines are showcased to match the seasonal menu.

Just love eating here. The food was as delicious as ever. I especially enjoyed the beef cheek, with mashed potato and broccoli. The staff are always very friendly and helpful. Can't wait for my next excuse to visit!

    Dear Bookatable,
Overall very disappointed. On arrival, walked into a corridor, wondered arround for a bit not really obvious where to go, and eventually found someone to ask about table and reservation. Service of staff was poor, even though 12.5% service charge was added to the bill. Wine , when it arrived i had to request that i was poured a glass with the excuse "I thought that you were driving". Never heard that one.. Wine grossly overpriced. Menu very limited. Seemed to be a problem with the staff in their ability to take an order. Main dishes were average. Side dishes poor.

To me it was not a joyous dining experience. Maybe it was just an one off poor Saturday night, sorry to say that I do not think that I would be rushing back to the Anchor. In my opinion far better restaurants and dining experiences to be had elsewhere.

Lovely place to spend a cold and wet lunchtime. The trout starter was delicious but a bit frugal re the trout portion. Main course was good but again could halve been a little more generous.
