Very friendly staff, had to wait quite a long time for the meal to arrive and it was expensive. We were seated by a family group with babies even though restaurant not busy. But there is a nice atmosphere in the pub and I first came to it in the 1980s so have an affection for it.

With an outdoor dining area overlooking the banks of the River Thames, The Albany is a gastro pub nestled outside Thames Ditton, just a 3-minute drive from the majestic Hampton Court Palace. A cosy retreat with cushioned armchairs, log fireplaces, polished stone floors & subdued lighting to set the mood, this country-style pub serves a mix of modern British & Mediterranean dishes.
With chefs given the opportunity to train at cookery schools in Spain and Italy, The Albany menu features modern signature recipes made using the finest available ingredients. As well as creative daily-changing specials, favourites include king prawn, crab and chorizo linguine, or spit-roasted chicken with lemon & garlic confit. A kids’ menu and Sunday roasts also feature, and desserts include rich vanilla and chocolate gelato with home-baked cookies.
The result of a treasured partnership with Rothschild wine merchants, the cellar showcases many fine wines, while token real ales and premium spirits are found at The Albany bar. Nostalgic British nibbles and eclectic sharing platters bursting with international flavours offer more laidback dining.

We started with Seared Scallops and Mackeral, very simple and tasty. Maybe coud have done with a little horseradish for the mackeral. I chose the chicken bacon and advocado salad, it was somewhat disappointing. The chicken was very dry and the mustard dressing almost unnoticed. I feel that there should have been a larger amount of salad especially for a main dish. My friend had the beetroot tart and said it was very good. Service was attentive without being in your face.
The atmosphere was excellant and the views all added to the experience.

Requested a table by the window which was waiting for us when we arrived
Plenty of waiting staff
Food was lovely had the 3 trio roast and then we had desserts outside
It got a little chilly but they provided blankets. Sat and watched the world go by

Wet Sunday in January for lunch; nice and warm inside with a table by the window. Service prompt, polite and attentive. Good range on the menu, breads, olives, pizzette; very good arancini and tempura squid; chicken salads and roast porks ample proportions. Somewhat strange to get Yorkshire pudding with roast pork. Spiralised onion, carrot, cucumber in the salads a bit tedious after initial novelty. Need to book at peak times - many family Sunday lunches have migrated away from home. £25 per head including drinks and gratuity.
On-site parking very useful. View on the river opposite Hampton Court is nice on decent days - especially if it is warm enough to sit outside.

The service was extraordinarily slow. An hour between ordering and starter! Food passable. This was a Boxing Day meal. I think they were overstretched. Lovely location. Waiter charming but unable to hurry up food.

Nice location, food ok but terribly slow service.

The food was very nice, the ambience was good but the service was a bit casual. Staff weren't that busy but had to be asked to remove our plates after we'd finished eating quite a long time and also had to be asked for a menu for desserts. Not had that experience before so it won't put me off going back.

Had requested a table near the window (online) but were seated inside the room; no problem with that except the person seating us wasn't very polite when I queried the position. Food delicious!! Beer excellent too!
