With an outdoor dining area overlooking the banks of the River Thames, The Albany is a gastro pub nestled outside Thames Ditton, just a 3-minute drive from the majestic Hampton Court Palace. A cosy retreat with cushioned armchairs, log fireplaces, polished stone floors & subdued lighting to set the mood, this country-style pub serves a mix of modern British & Mediterranean dishes.
With chefs given the opportunity to train at cookery schools in Spain and Italy, The Albany menu features modern signature recipes made using the finest available ingredients. As well as creative daily-changing specials, favourites include king prawn, crab and chorizo linguine, or spit-roasted chicken with lemon & garlic confit. A kids’ menu and Sunday roasts also feature, and desserts include rich vanilla and chocolate gelato with home-baked cookies.
The result of a treasured partnership with Rothschild wine merchants, the cellar showcases many fine wines, while token real ales and premium spirits are found at The Albany bar. Nostalgic British nibbles and eclectic sharing platters bursting with international flavours offer more laidback dining.

Very friendly staff, had to wait quite a long time for the meal to arrive and it was expensive. We were seated by a family group with babies even though restaurant not busy. But there is a nice atmosphere in the pub and I first came to it in the 1980s so have an affection for it.

I booked our table online 36 hours or so before our lunch, and was pleased that we were able to get the table that I had requested. Four of us chose a variety of dishes, and were all very happy with what we received. The service was attentive, although I was a little surprised to be reminded that "service was not included" when the bill came. I was going to, and indeed did, leave a good tip, as we had thoroughly enjoyed our meal.
The only adverse comment was that in a spacious restaurant, our party of 4, another party of 6 and another party of 4, were jammed up at one end of the restaurant, so much so that for a lady to visit the loo, a person at the next table had to get up to let her out !
Two small points, but nothing to prevent us leaving with the feeling that we were glad that we chose the Albany, we thoroughly enjoyed the meal, and we would most certainly go again.

Not good service. Lots of changes of waiting staff. No meet and greet. No birthday cheers.Impersonal. Dirty outdoor furniture, with worn chair arms. Dirty indoor seat, table not nicely set. Food fine but hugely disappointed, as it was supposed to be a celebration. Portion size too big with pizza, needed salad. Menu a bit restricted for diabetic friend's and those on low carb diets.

Very pleasant evening. Good food and attentive staff made the alfresco atmosphere a real treat. A great way to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary.

Booked a table for 8 the previous week.Table all ready and exactly where I'd asked with a view of the river. We all had the fixed price menu and food all arrived on time without any undue wait. Food beautifully presented nd all pleased wth their dish. A very helpful young waiter serving us but all staff helpful to us,a party of oldies! No pressure on us to hurry though thr restaurant was almost empty by the time we left. We're all quite experienced diners in various places but felt this was a very good dining experience.

Service was poor. We have three children with us, one of them autistic so ordered their food as a priority. It was not treated as suc and Some of it never turned up. We had to keep getting up to get service.

We started with Seared Scallops and Mackeral, very simple and tasty. Maybe coud have done with a little horseradish for the mackeral. I chose the chicken bacon and advocado salad, it was somewhat disappointing. The chicken was very dry and the mustard dressing almost unnoticed. I feel that there should have been a larger amount of salad especially for a main dish. My friend had the beetroot tart and said it was very good. Service was attentive without being in your face.
The atmosphere was excellant and the views all added to the experience.
