Went for a late lunch on Saturday at 3 o'clock. Food was great but the service was awful, we had to wait 45 minutes after we sat down before we were forced to call someone over to take our food order, the food came in good time and tasted great. We then sat for another 30 minutes after finishing our food before we again had to call someone over to clear our plates meanwhile some of the staff were having there lunch in the booth behind us having a (loud) great time. We were planning on having a long boozy lunch here but decided as the service was so poor we would finish up and move onto the Cross Keys near by. When getting the bill we asked for the service charge to be removed, the waiter didn't seem surprised at all with this request, he didn't ask any questions why we were asking for it and showed no concern what so ever. Food good, service the worst I have experienced in a long time. If you can't provide for the late lunch sitting, don't offer it! Disappointing.

Met friends here for a 2pm Saturday booking. It was a good choice. Excellent gastro pub food and a perfect pint of Guinness in nice surroundings with efficient and welcoming service. Nothing to complain about and if I found myself in the area, I would certainly pop in again. Loved the nautical theme and the various historical paintings which enhanced the feel of the pub.

Booking online was easy slight diffulty ringing them. The staff were excellent. The food was large . 1 lunch roast was enough for two people. Would certaily be going back there again.

Whilst the staff were friendly and the food reasonable, the restaurant decorations and furniture were tired and worn, did not look particularly clean, and are in need of refurbishment. The layout of the menu itself was confusing, and neither made ordering easy, or displayed the full potential of the kitchen.

The BBQ menu was not available this Sunday, but the regular menu was quite good. The haddock was very fresh & well made. The service was very attentive & quite friendly. The beer selection was also varied and quite good.
