Overall outstanding in an excellent location. Food, service and ambiance all wonderful. My go to place when in town from Boston.

Much more than a standard London gastropub, The Abingdon pairs modern, eclectic style with beautifully presented European dishes. The eye-catching U-shaped bar is a chic spot for counter dining, with a celebrated wine list featuring organic and biodynamic vintages on offer.

Always innovative and showcasing the finest seasonal ingredients from local suppliers, the Abingdon menu is full of modern European delicacies. Starters like parmesan soufflé with wild mushroom ragout are beautifully presented, while fresh seafood recipes include North Sea cod fillet with bubble and squeak cake, confit garlic sauce, aioli and clams. There are sharing specialities such as pave steak for two, and all kinds of premium sides.

The inventive recipes continue for dessert at The Abingdon in Kensington. There is lemon and goats' curd cheesecake with rosemary honey, and pistachio brownie with pistachio ice cream. The Abingdon is known for its carefully crafted wine list, with bottles from the old and new worlds represented.

An inventive, wonderfully executed update on the modern gastropub, The Abingdon also has a small al fresco seating area at the front. Gloucester Road Tube Station is a 4-minute drive away.

We loved this restaurant - came especially for the Sticky Toffee Pudding, but all the food was great. The seaweed salad, risotto, and the crab tortelloni were standouts. Great vibe and great food!

Every dish we ordered was amazingly good. We recalled the duck spring rolls from when we lived in London years ago and we were delighted to have them again. I loved the fois gras and the sauces with it were wonderful. The sticky toffee pudding was sublime, and we appreciated being able to have it with ice cream. Any time we come to London, we will be back to the Abington!

Our dinner at The Abingdon was truly memorable. It's hard to know where to start. Every aspect of our visit was excellent. All the staff was committed to making our experience special. One of our guests has a food allergy. Our server made sure he understood what this entailed and double checked with the chef to make sure the foods chosen would be OK. It was very reassuring to experience this level of care. I enjoyed the "special" porkchop while my guest had the lemon sole. We shared roasted potatoes and broccoli on the side. Preparation and presentation was superb. The desserts .......sticky toffee with clotted cream and the creme broule .......what more can I say? Thank you for helping make this vacation one of our best!
