Period features like exposed oak beams and an original fireplace add to the ambience, and make it an atmospheric setting for afternoon teas.

Carefully sourced seasonal ingredients go into the Thatcher's Restaurant menu, creating traditional British recipes. Fresh seafood includes seared sea bass, while the grill selection offers a range of tender steaks, and on Sundays there are roast lunches with all the trimmings. Afternoon teas at Thatcher's Restaurant include delicate yet generously filled finger sandwiches, scones with jam and clotted cream, as well as other sweet treats.

An extensive international wine list is served at Thatcher's Restaurant East Horsley, and at the adjacent Club Bar, there are local ales on tap, as well as a selection of premium spirits.

Went for afternoon tea and stayed overnight. We also decided to stay in and dine in the restaurant for our evening meal. The food was lovely and the service great. The next morning we used the restaurant for breakfast and was a bit let down by extremely slow service, lack of a reserved table as we had booked this a week in advance. We were asked to wait while they cleared a table for 2, although there were 3 of us. They got a spare chair and added but this proved very impractical once the food and drink were on the table we quickly ran out of space, and we had to constantly ask for used plates and cutlery to be removed to make space. We had to use the tick sheet provided to make our breakfast selection but this was totally ignored and my husband ended up getting pork sausages instead of the veggie sausages he had ordered (non pork eater), he also asked for his egg to be well done but still received a runny yoke. He did not enjoy his meal, but we had reminded them so many times about missing bits and pieces, we just gave up in the end.

We got there with a booking for lunch only to be told it wasn't being served. This made it very difficult as I had my father in his late nineties with us and it's hard getting him in and out of the car. No alternative venues were suggested and when I showed the receptionist the booking confirmation email she just said l: "I believe you." Very disappointing as my parents had had such a lovely time there for their Golden Wedding.

I was really impressed with the food and service. We had a lovely young man called Madalin which we had for both evenings of our stay. Nothing was too much trouble for him, he is a asset to the hotel. The food was well cooked and prepared and was hot. No complaints.

Went for a belated mothers day cream tea with my daughter on Saturday and we were treated like princesses the service was 10/10 restaurant was spotless and all adhered to goverment guidelines. Thankyou for a wonderful experience in these worring times.

Staff were fantastic very attentive and friendly, but unfortunately the food was a let down. Both mine and my wife’s courses were unedible and were left uneaten.

Everything was lovely. Good starters, mains, and desserts. My husband was well impressed by the salmon. The staff were lovely and very attentive, though could have some extra hands. One server for the whole restaurant is spread a bit thin.
