Terra Madre is 6-times winner of the Best Restaurant in North Devon award, and runner up of 'Love the Flavour, Devon' in 2013. Dutch owners Rinus and Aniet van de Sande moved to North Devon in 1997, and created the Broomhill sculpture park, featuring both a hotel and award-winning restaurant.
The acclaimed Broomhill Kitchen is run by patron Rinus and his daughter Louisa, with technique based around the 'slow food' philosophy, where respect for authentic produce and local ingredients is paramount. A mainly Mediterranean menu is inspired by the owners' travels: using fresh, organic, Fairtrade produce from neighbouring farms and the coast. Terra Madre cure their own chorizo, salami, and sauerkraut, bake sourdough bread, and smoke meats in the wood oven.
As well as a daily-changing selection of vegan and vegetarian dishes, speciality dishes include cod cheeks and Bideford Bay mussels, beetroot-cured salmon, duck leg confit with spiced orange sauce, ox cheek with piquillo pepper, Exmoor beef casserole, or Moroccan-style lamb casserole.
