With a carvery, pre-theatre menu and a la carte offering, the Carvery and Grill, on the iconic Strand, serves delicious, traditional British favourites. Located within the grand Strand Palace Hotel, this popular restaurant has been serving theatre-goers, tourists and local regulars for many tears.

Set in contemporary surroundings, the Carvery and Grill serves an array of fresh salads and succulent meats from the buffet, as well as sublimely cooked classics from the a la carte menu. The Carvery and Grill offers prime cuts of lamb, beef and chicken, and regularly updates its menu to spotlight contemporary flavours such as the tasty stone bass fillet, served with peas and an endive salad.

The superb international wine list at the Carvery and Grill presents balanced, sophisticated options, while the dessert menu features traditional favourites. Some come with a twist, such as the beetroot and chocolate brownies served with poached pear and stracciatella ice cream. Of course, there is also a superb selection of British hard, soft and blue cheeses.

In the heart of Covent Garden, the Carvery and Grill is just a short stroll from Charing Cross, Waterloo, Covent Garden, Temple and Embankment.

Have been going to this carvery on special occasions over the past 7 years. Unfortunately our last visit on 2nd January was not up to its usual standard. The carvery meat was not displayed in an appetising manner; the gammon looked like scraps from lunch time and the turkey was much the same. Beef was not there and we had to ask for it but when it came the chef could hardly cut it and the inside was red raw with blood dripping from it. The chef offered to put some slices under the grill for us. There were no sauces and no-one came to ask us if our meal was ok. Only one selection of potatoes when there is normally two. Our desserts were fine.

Excellent service and good food. We’ve visited this restaurant for over 20 years; speaks for itself I feel.

We are a group of six retired engineers, and have eaten at the Strand Palace carvery for many years,.We have noticed over the past three to four years service has not been so good. This year the table service was the poorest yet. The staff were most pleasant, but we had no 'table waiter/waitress' as in the past. We had to call someone for attention, to order our Starters and Desserts, and in the case of the Starters, the wait was 30 minutes. Two of our party had the Beef, who found it difficult to cut, and eat, one just gave up and did not eat it. The food overall could have been hotter from the Carvery, and no stuffing for the Turkey!
As stated earlier, we have eaten here for many years, and the experience this year was a bitter disappointment.

Service good. Food very average at an above average price

We have had lunch at the Strand Palace on many occasions and have always been delighted with the quality of the food. Excellent selection from the starter and main buffets. Always a good choice available. Prices seem to have increased a bit lately. With the addition of a discretionary service charge which seem to be mandatory it is now getting a bit expensive. Not very busy when we visited which I hope is not down to price increase.

We had a really beautiful meal here at the Carvery on the 3rd December. We were looked after very well by the staff and they were great. Highly recommend eating here

Mediocre food and service - I would not recommend. No atmosphere, poor service, limited choice of food. The carvery meat was chewy, the vegetable choice limited and boiled tasteless. The carver was absent and we had to stand around waiting; when he did arrive he was poor at carving. The starter buffet choice is drastically reduced since my last visit and now consists of cheap ingredients assembled with little thought or effort. The whole thing smacks of "we need to feed our hotel guests but can't be bothered so let's make as little effort and spend as little as possible". I won't return.

The Carvery Restaurant is a very welcoming environment with tables placed at a good distance, which means that one can talk quietly without having to shout - a big consideration these days! The room is well-lit and the chairs ample and comfortable. On our recent visit (26th November) the meats and vegetables were of a good quality and it would be difficult to criticise the staff helpfulness or general room ambience.
