Right in the heart of Limehouse, Straight & Narrow is a stylish combination of restaurant, cocktail bar and piano lounge. With comfy chesterfield sofas, flickering candles on the tables, and an elegant soundtrack of tinkling ivories, this is a great venue to indulge in modern European dining.
The Straight & Narrow menu is a comprehensive showcase of contemporary European flavours. From the chic bar area there is a popular British tapas menu, with small plate treats like pork croquettes with crackling and apple sauce, and fish cakes with tartar sauce, which are great to enjoy with one of the signature cocktails. Larger mains include options like steamed Cornish mussels, wild mushroom risotto, and succulent steaks from the grill.
On Sundays at Straight & Narrow in Limehouse there are generous roast dinners with all the trimmings, which can be enjoyed with one of the carefully sourced wines, or something from the sparkling range. For pudding, there is salted caramel banoffee pie, and orange and almond tart with crème fraîche.
An intimate setting to enjoy live piano music with cocktails and fine European flavours, Straight & Narrow is a 5-minute walk from Limehouse Rail Station.

This is easily the best restaurant in East London, and a real Limehouse favourite!
The welcome is warm, the food and drink are prepared with real skill, and even though the kitchen is as good as it gets anywhere, there is no stuffy pretence about the place... a casual place to relax and have a drink and meal with friends, or slightly more formal if you wish. We have now been there multiple times and each experience gets better and better. Try the soup, even if you’re not normally a fan, as it is always AMAZING! We love the steaks, the chicken, and especially the rabbit linguine if it is on the menu. Desserts are great too.... everything from the cheese board to the sticky toffee... all served with the flare it deserves.
This place is so much better than the impersonal and crammed Ramsey place nearby, and while there isn’t a view of the river, the atmosphere is fab and if you bring a friend or a lover (perhaps both?) you won’t need to look at the brown water anyway.
There is also a new barman namede Anatole who is superb. He is a cocktail master, and will reward you with excellent drinks and service.
No doubt worth the trip, and such incredible value! -

I have been to the Straight and Narrow many times. I have never been disppointed. I took guests from abroad on Saturday evening. The waitress recommended the steak but did warn me that it was expensive (£"(!). One of my guests ordered it and said the steak was probably the best she had ever had. I ordered the duck leg and beans but that was a bit disappointing and a mistake. My other guest ordered the mussels and said they were delicious. The puddings were really good; we oreder two to share between the three of us and even then we were unable to finish the huge portions. One detail I particularly appreciate is that I can actually order a 125 ml glass of wine, something I have found almost impossible in London unlike on the Continent where it is not unusual to order just a small glass with one's meal. Only one real problem, Saturday night and the music was dreadfully loud. In future I shall avoid the Straight and Narrow on Saturday nights. However the Straight and Narrow has one of the best Sunday lunches ever!

I live nearby and have visited many times before. It has been a great addition to the local area. The menu has recently changed and is now even better - quality of food and wine have really gone up to the next level. I would highly recommend.
