Restaurant description
Stockdales of Yorkshire celebrates the area’s agriculture in a farmhouse setting with hearty dishes and aged beef cooked in a charcoal Josper Oven. Found in a Grade II-listed building, this city spot offers diners Yorkshire Wagyu, decadent grills or express lunches.
Start with poached duck egg and wild mushrooms slathered in truffle hollandaise on sourdough toast from the Stockdales of Yorkshire menu. Move onto the signature Stockdales mixed grill including marrow bone, mash and a wholesome gravy, or pick marbled steak from the Josper Grill served with watercress, parmesan and toasted walnut salad.
Spread over 2 floors, Stockdales of Yorkshire in Leeds has a classical dining room with large rustic arched windows and a restaurant-facing wine cellar, pairing well with the generously portioned dishes. The restaurant also has vegan, gluten-free, and kiddies’ menus.
Walk 6 minutes from the station to visit the Stockdales of Yorkshire restaurant in the old Pearl Assurance building, across from Victoria Square in the centre of Leeds.

We have gone to this restaurant for a long time and it has always been our default place as it has always been lovely, however this Friday was disappointing. The service was ‘okay’ but the food was not as good as normal, steak overcooked, veg and potatoes were dry but the worst was the deserts, we ordered two to share between us and the chef must have dropped a pot of sugar into them they were so sweet they caught your breath (and we all do have a sweet tooth). We asked if there had been a change to the chef and the girl who served us said she did not know as she had not been here that long!! We mentioned about the food as we went along but at no time did anyone else come across to apologise or see if we wanted anything else, which we were surprised at. Anyway, such a shame but not a favourite anymore, we will try once more mainly because it normally is so good but if it is the same probably not again.

Excellent food and service; the complimentary bread and dripping alone is worth going for! Nice selection of wine and fizz as well.
