Praised by Hardens, The Good Food Guide and Michelin, Staith House is an acclaimed gastropub that prizes seasonal flavours, and champions making as much of its produce on-site. Inside, settle back in plush Chesterfield-style seating and enjoy the warm family-friendly ambience, with Sundays offering up popular roast dinners and live music events.
The Staith House menu brings its own gourmet take on British pub dishes, all made with local seasonal ingredients. Snack on light bites like spicy Scotch egg with parsley dip, before moving on to hearty mains such as rilled black pudding with lamb sweetbreads, spinach and creamy mash. As well as home-style fish and chips with mushy peas and tartare sauce, there are dedicated seafood tasting menus that showcase the finest fresh catches from the local quay.
Sunday lunches at Staith House in Tyne & Wear offer up a choice of succulent slow-cooked meats and fresh fish, with trimmings including fresh veggies, spring onion fritters and crème fraîche crushed potatoes. Finish things off with something from the indulgent dessert menu, such as caramel chocolate mousse, or lemon posset with poached Yorkshire rhubarb.
A charming coastal pub with a relaxed ambience, Staith House is a 4-minute drive from North Shields Metro Station.

Absolutely amazing food. Best Sunday lunch I have ever had in my ENTIRE LIFE........

Pleasant service. Mostly very enjoyable. However, my fish pie was disappointing, very dry, without a hint of sauce ,heavy on the potato and overcooked. The devilled kidneys were excellent, as was the lamb, and I would have liked a larger portion! .Likewise, there was not a lot of cheese for £8. Enjoyed the baked treacle.

A very enjoyable experience. Good and friendly service. Food excellent. Duck parfait starter excellent. Fish and chips best ever. Light batter, fish was so tasty and chips just right! Couldn’t finish as such a generous portion at lunchtime,Overall a very enjoyable experience. Only downside was the price of a glass of wine!

We are in North Shields regularly as our mother's home is near the marina. We visited on Saturday 30th June, 6.00pm. Good location just off the Fish Quay and it was already busy outside with drinkers. Limited parking but plenty of on-street parking close by. Table by the window had interesting views. Maritime-influenced decor is lovely and light. Menu is concise and completely persuasive - and then there were some specials, too - Lindisfarne oysters nearly had a taker. There was nothing we would not have chosen. The desserts sounded particularly good so we shared whitebait and mackeral pate to start which was plenty for the three of us. The pate was very good - as was the bread - could have done with another slice of that even if we weren't sharing. The main courses were excellent - the fish pie from the specials board was all caramelised, baked on potato topping in its enamel dish, halibut with spinach - both so perfectly cooked, it was beautiful to see - and eat. The beef shin with mustard sauce and fine shavings of white turnip was delicious. Four desserts on the menu, three people - well, we could not choose so had all four and shared. Highlights were the superb chilled rice pudding served in a very pretty glass goblet and the sticky toffee pudding - both of which came in very generous portions. I know everyone does sticky toffee pudding, but it was a really good one. The service was exemplary - friendly, knowledgeable, there when you needed them but not constantly hovering.
We were pleased to be given a recommendation to visit Route, their sister venue on the Quayside in Newcastlewhich we will definitely try on one of our future visits.
