Praised by Hardens, The Good Food Guide and Michelin, Staith House is an acclaimed gastropub that prizes seasonal flavours, and champions making as much of its produce on-site. Inside, settle back in plush Chesterfield-style seating and enjoy the warm family-friendly ambience, with Sundays offering up popular roast dinners and live music events.

The Staith House menu brings its own gourmet take on British pub dishes, all made with local seasonal ingredients. Snack on light bites like spicy Scotch egg with parsley dip, before moving on to hearty mains such as rilled black pudding with lamb sweetbreads, spinach and creamy mash. As well as home-style fish and chips with mushy peas and tartare sauce, there are dedicated seafood tasting menus that showcase the finest fresh catches from the local quay.

Sunday lunches at Staith House in Tyne & Wear offer up a choice of succulent slow-cooked meats and fresh fish, with trimmings including fresh veggies, spring onion fritters and crème fraîche crushed potatoes. Finish things off with something from the indulgent dessert menu, such as caramel chocolate mousse, or lemon posset with poached Yorkshire rhubarb.

A charming coastal pub with a relaxed ambience, Staith House is a 4-minute drive from North Shields Metro Station.

It was my first visit with my husband and daughter, the staff were very friendly and chatty. I had lamb dinner but was not impressed, the lamb did not have much taste, the plate of food was just a bit too much for me, you could maybe do smaller portions for small eaters. My hubby had beef and said it was really nice but only had one slice of meat, at £16 I think I bit pricey. My daughter had the cod which she really enjoyed but the portion was very small (£17), she ended up having some of my meal.

We went for Sunday Lunch, and the service was poor one waitress asked if we wanted any more drinks when we said not at the mpment the bill was thrust upon us talk about wanting the customers to leave. Starters arrived very quickly, nothing to get excited about. Main courses were so so 2 of us had the belly pork, was the smallest piece of pork i have seen. Beef was cooked well, only 1 slice but we had asked for a end piece as well not forth coming.lamb was ok. All the main courses were served with caramelised onions, which is a strange thing to serve with a roast lunch. The roast potatoes tasted like they were cooked yesterday. Gravy was the same for all 3 roasts ie commercial. Surely if you are cooking large pieces of meat you are going to get meat juices to make gravy with. Yorkshire puddings were good.
We had read the reviews and were looking forward to the meal, the sample menu on the website was much better than what was on the menu today. Will have to think long and hard about returning.

We had our table booked for 3.15. Upon arrival we were told to wait in the bar area as our table wasn’t quite ready. 15 min came and passed and we still weren’t sat. Brought it to the attention of the staff who said it wouldn’t be long. Another 20 min passed and a couple walked in and were sat straight away. Spoke to staff who said there had been an error and we would be sat soon. 1 hour 5 min in total we waited.
We had the beef and lamb dinners, we were both a little disappointed in only having one slice of meat each on our plates. Even waited over 10 min after asking for the bill, no one asked how our experience was or how the food was. We did enjoy what we had however all spoilt by poor service.
Hoping it was a fluke and would like to return maybe not on a busy weekend

On my list to visit for ages and very disappointing. Music blaring and service haphazard as waitress kept running all over the place. I had mackerel as a main and you get one half a fish and 3 potatoes. That's it! No idea if a new chef is in place but they need to reassess their portions.

Disappointing. "King Scallop" starters were tiny, and tasteless. Guinea Fowl main was very tasty but lacking in the mushrooms that were listed on the menu as a feature (there were 2 slices). Service was very poor - staff were inattentive, not sufficiently well dressed, and talked far too much to one another, and far too loudly.
