Restaurant description

Praised by Hardens, The Good Food Guide and Michelin, Staith House is an acclaimed gastropub that prizes seasonal flavours, and champions making as much of its produce on-site. Inside, settle back in plush Chesterfield-style seating and enjoy the warm family-friendly ambience, with Sundays offering up popular roast dinners and live music events.

The Staith House menu brings its own gourmet take on British pub dishes, all made with local seasonal ingredients. Snack on light bites like spicy Scotch egg with parsley dip, before moving on to hearty mains such as rilled black pudding with lamb sweetbreads, spinach and creamy mash. As well as home-style fish and chips with mushy peas and tartare sauce, there are dedicated seafood tasting menus that showcase the finest fresh catches from the local quay.

Sunday lunches at Staith House in Tyne & Wear offer up a choice of succulent slow-cooked meats and fresh fish, with trimmings including fresh veggies, spring onion fritters and crème fraîche crushed potatoes. Finish things off with something from the indulgent dessert menu, such as caramel chocolate mousse, or lemon posset with poached Yorkshire rhubarb.

A charming coastal pub with a relaxed ambience, Staith House is a 4-minute drive from North Shields Metro Station.

The menu was a little limited, but the food was fantastic, great value for money and didn’t take long. The covid-19 precautions were mostly unobtrusive except for the visors the staff were wearing - voices really don’t travel well through them, so we found it very difficult to hear our waitress as she had such a quiet voice. Fine if they speak up.

Resturant was taking the necessary steps to cover Covid19 requirements. We had fish & chips admittedly not very adventurous, but they do produce the best in the area, accompanied by home made tarter sauce and mushy peas. Staff are friendly and efficient.

We are regular, infrequent visitors to the Staith House and have yet to have a bad meal there. This was our first visit since reopening and we were glad to see its standards were as high as ever. Their fish and game dishes are particularly good. Wine list short but interesting.

As always the experience was very good with very friendly staff. The food was brilliant especially both fish dishes we had. For starters we shared Piggy ears...lovely indeed I had the lemon sole whilst my wife had the Hake which was served with a pea jus. This was stunning. To finish a perfect meal my personal favourite the sticky toffee pudding.

The Staith House has always been brilliant but I would particularly like to say how well they dealt with having customers in during the pandemic. The food is always excellent here, as are the staff.

Quite a chilled ambiance, pleasant and efficient staff. The food came in just the right portion size, the oysters were super fresh and tender, I would highly recommend for a nervous first timer. One slight criticism though, the batter on my fried fish was crispy and light but did not have any flavour, the rest of our meal was delicious however. Would recommend and return.

Food was exceptional as usual! Staff were not their usual self. Some seemed a bit lost and unfriendly however it won’t put us off returning
