I had read about the Staith House on Facebook and booked online. This was effortless and I was told we were one of the first to use the system. Staith House has an interesting position on the quay side with good parking and an attractive outside area. Inside it is warm and comfortable with sufficient space between tables not to be over crowded. The service was positive and attentive. The evening menu was interesting with a good selection of fish and non fish dishes. The beef tongue fritter I had as a pre curser was nicely cooked and presented. I had mussels in cider ( the bread served with it was excellent but some fries would not have gone amiss) for my starter and Northumberland duck breast in peppercorn sauce as a main. My other half had the Staithy fish pie as her main course. Both were substantial and served with hand cut chips, selection of vegetables ( extra). The Staithy pie is served in its own enamel dish on a plate and is accompanied by a beer mat to stop the pie dishing slipping off the plate. My wife didn't feel able to empty the food from the pie dish onto her plate because of this and we would suggest something alternative to a beer mat might be more acceptable. For sweet we shared Yorkshire rhubarb with frangipane topping which was excellent. The wine menu was inviting and reasonably priced. As a man who likes real ale disappointed only one ale available on the night of our visit.Toilets were clean and tidy and in the bar area dogs seemed to be welcomed. Overall a good find
