Praised by Hardens, The Good Food Guide and Michelin, Staith House is an acclaimed gastropub that prizes seasonal flavours, and champions making as much of its produce on-site. Inside, settle back in plush Chesterfield-style seating and enjoy the warm family-friendly ambience, with Sundays offering up popular roast dinners and live music events.

The Staith House menu brings its own gourmet take on British pub dishes, all made with local seasonal ingredients. Snack on light bites like spicy Scotch egg with parsley dip, before moving on to hearty mains such as rilled black pudding with lamb sweetbreads, spinach and creamy mash. As well as home-style fish and chips with mushy peas and tartare sauce, there are dedicated seafood tasting menus that showcase the finest fresh catches from the local quay.

Sunday lunches at Staith House in Tyne & Wear offer up a choice of succulent slow-cooked meats and fresh fish, with trimmings including fresh veggies, spring onion fritters and crème fraîche crushed potatoes. Finish things off with something from the indulgent dessert menu, such as caramel chocolate mousse, or lemon posset with poached Yorkshire rhubarb.

A charming coastal pub with a relaxed ambience, Staith House is a 4-minute drive from North Shields Metro Station.

A great meal in a good pub

It's a place I've been before - though never on a Sunday - and have always had a good experience. Doubt I'd go back on a Sunday because of this visit. The place was very busy and we had to ask someone where we could find our table since there was no-one to meet and greet. After a while waiting I had to go to the bar to enquire if anyone would take our drinks order. Again, it too a while before anyone came to take our food order. However, an hour's wait for food just wasn't acceptable. Our two friends had come from Whitby for this special birthday meal and were unimpressed with the wait (asnd they're serious foodies).

The pub has been renovated very well having walked past it’s former incarnation many times, it feels summery, light and spacious. Sadly while the food was good the service really lets the place down.
Staff were obviously willing to do a good job and they seemed bright and engaging however they were very busy whilst having no apparent organisation to their tasks. There was no restaurant manager or anyone in charge just a load of young staff looking very hot and bothered. There was no record of our booking when we arrived, some friends joined us for a drink and this seems to throw everything off. We had to ask 4 times for our order to be taken, then we were told we had to order wine at the bar (we weren’t given a wine list) not at the table, oysters arrived with some slices of lemon and no other condiments and without cutlery.
The food was well cooked and flavoured (cod with lentils and a side of chips) but I wouldn’t go back I’m afraid because of the chaotic service and just to reiterate it was not the individual staff’s fault, they really did try there best but they need training and managing.

Nice mix of relaxed, casual atmosphere with really fine food. Very welcoming, with a fine array of awards on show!

We had a wide age range in our party, but easily found dishes for everyone. They were all eaten quickly and almost in silence as we all devoured every morsel on our plates!

Not cheap, but we were there for a 21st birthday, and "pushed the boat out" a bit. The food was actually worth every penny, and the service was excellent - worthy of the good tip I left !

Excellent food, worth the price, the best fish we've probably ever eaten, a little drafty sitting between both entrances but lovely atmosphere. Relaxed staff.

We enjoyed our first visit to this restaurant; delicious food, friendly staff and a good atmosphere.

Really enjoyed the starter and the main meal, the hake was the freshest, most lovely tasting fish either of us had eaten in a long time but would have liked more vegetables with the main. Service was good and wine ok - maybe a little overpriced. Overall, it was a good experience.
