Praised by Hardens, The Good Food Guide and Michelin, Staith House is an acclaimed gastropub that prizes seasonal flavours, and champions making as much of its produce on-site. Inside, settle back in plush Chesterfield-style seating and enjoy the warm family-friendly ambience, with Sundays offering up popular roast dinners and live music events.

The Staith House menu brings its own gourmet take on British pub dishes, all made with local seasonal ingredients. Snack on light bites like spicy Scotch egg with parsley dip, before moving on to hearty mains such as rilled black pudding with lamb sweetbreads, spinach and creamy mash. As well as home-style fish and chips with mushy peas and tartare sauce, there are dedicated seafood tasting menus that showcase the finest fresh catches from the local quay.

Sunday lunches at Staith House in Tyne & Wear offer up a choice of succulent slow-cooked meats and fresh fish, with trimmings including fresh veggies, spring onion fritters and crème fraîche crushed potatoes. Finish things off with something from the indulgent dessert menu, such as caramel chocolate mousse, or lemon posset with poached Yorkshire rhubarb.

A charming coastal pub with a relaxed ambience, Staith House is a 4-minute drive from North Shields Metro Station.

We have dined at the Staith house twice before so knew what to expect .The food was excellent and the ambience very good.
However when we got the bill we noticed we had not been charged for the bottle of wine (£22.50) we pointed this out and the bill was taken away and the wine added. There was no thank you for doing this, the bill was just plonked back on the table for payment. Someone did approach us after we had paid and we thought he was going to perhaps thank us but he just told us he needed our table. So not very impressed with the front of house service from that point of view.
The experience may colour our view on going back there.

Food as always was delicious. Such a high standard. Service was also fantastic, only issue I would raise was having three of the parties plates cleared before the fourth person had finished eating, meaning she was leant over to reach one of the cleared plates. Other than that another great visit

Disappointing. We came to celebrate joint family birthdays with my parents as we had been as a couple on NYE and were really impressed. However on Saturday the music was too loud and the stereo kept going off and on again, the service was poor and we were sat really close to another couple at the next table where We just felt very conscious and uncomfortable. We were disappointed with the set lunch menu and didn’t like any of the options (I say options but there was only one choice for all 3 courses). The fish I had (some type of ray) was chewy and not enjoyable and the rest of my family just had very expensive fish and chips which was nothing special. The presentation of the food wasn’t as good either just felt like an everyday (albeit v expensive) pub but maybe it’s a completely different experience on an evening (as we had on New Year’s Eve). The service was terrible. I had to ask to get our mains plates cleared away and for more drinks then my husbands pint never came but they charged us for it on the bill. When I mentioned this the waiter did take it off as well as another pint to apologise which was good of him but overall not a great experience for a very expensive lunch. We would probably recommend this restaurant for an evening meal but wouldn’t for lunch based on this experience.

Unfortunately we were extremely disappointed with our dining experience at Staith House! We had been wanting to come to the venue for some time, following the reviews and beautiful photos of the food posted on social media. We were very much looking forward to our meal as this was our Valentine’s Day treat to one another.

We ordered the oysters as a taster, and the langoustines as our starter, and although they were tasty, the starter came before the taster, and we had to remind staff to bring the oysters. Once we had finished our starters it took ages for the staff to come and clear our table, however they left our finger bowls and empty glasses, and these were not removed until we were half way through our main course. We waited 40 minutes for our main course to be served. We both ordered the rump steak with chips and onion rings. My partner’s steak was cooked to his liking, however, I asked for
my steak to be cooked rare to medium, and it came well done and tough. The majority of my chips were crispy fragments that looked like they had been tipped out from the bottom of a serving tray. I would have complained and sent the food back, but it took so long to get it in the first instance, my partner would have been well finished his meal before I got mine back. In addition, although the staff were polite and friendly, the level of service was poor. Overall the quality of the food and service was very poor; not at all what we expected. I’m sorry to say that we will not be returning to Staith House, given that we have been to less expensive venues with better quality food and levels of service. ????

The booking service on line was fine.on arrival the young girl explained it was only her second shift and they were very busy.there was No beef left only sticky beef? She had to ask what this was. We waited 15 minutes for our drinks order to be taken to be told 10 minutes later that the wine we had chosen was unavailable (Malbec)we were offered a substitute which we were told was similar It Was Not! we had to ask twice for watered. We eventually ordered food 30 minutes after our arrival
When our starts arrived we had to send The scotch Egg back as there was a long hair wrap around the egg
Our main meals arrived which we great but we were not offered any more drinks until our dishes were being cleared and dessert menus handed out
We are regular customers for drinks and food
Over all a very disappointing Sunday lunch certainly not up to your usual standards
Richard on guitar was as always great

Excellent food and excellent , friendly service. The halibut was delicious. Indeed all the food was good and we all enjoyed the experience. The menu was not extensive but there was a good range with choices for both fish and meat lovers. All the food was of an excellent quality and was cooked fresh.
The gastro pub had a good atmosphere and the dining arrangements were convivial.
Wine menu had a reasonable spread of old and new world wines, all at a reasonable price.
All in all the experience was excellent and great value for monry.
My congratulations to the team there.

Had a lovely evening, thanks. Really great food. Rump steak was exceptional and ilse of Lewis mussel dish a treat. Wine well chilled, a must; and coffee was also very good although Irish coffee could have been better.
