Restaurant description

Holder of 3 AA Rosettes and winner of the AA Restaurant of the year 2018, Michelin-starred Sorrel specialises in creating stunningly presented dishes, filled with bold imagination. The menus constantly evolve with the changing seasons, while the restaurant setting is filled with historic British charm, and features rustic exposed wooden beams alongside other original features.

The Sorrel menu celebrates seasonal British flavours, and uses carefully sourced ingredients from the local area, and further afield in the UK. Game dishes include Norfolk quail with tamarind, rhubarb and grapes, while fresh seafood delicacies are showcased with options like scallops with apple and celery cannelloni and cucumber ketchup.

Carefully chosen wines from the sommelier at Sorrel in Dorking perfectly complement the bold, imaginative menu. For dessert, there are unique creations such as hibiscus poached pear with cardamom, goats' milk and crystallised gin.

Combining bold, modern British recipes with a classically styled setting, Sorrel is a 5-minute drive from Dorking West Rail Station.

Dishes displayed on a la carte menus are representative of the type of food available at the restaurant.

The food and service were both superb but, having told the first waiter to our table that it was our 57th wedding anniversary, we were a little surprised that we were charged £28 for the glasses of champagne which he offered. Also, the wine list was overpriced

Considering the necessary covid safety measures, the welcome and general atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. This was our 3rd visit to Sorrel, and the cuisine was as brilliant as ever. We went for the set lunch menu of brill followed by duck, the flavours brought out harmoniously by the accompanying sauces and hand cooked "crisps". The little surprises served up between courses all worked out beautifully, and made sure there was never a dull moment. The Australian Jester Shiraz was full of fruit and a great accompaniment to the duck.

Had a fabulous dining experience, staff were all very attentive and knowledgeable. We had a most incredible flavoured Tomato Tea, simply devine. I chose to have the wine pairing which was a worthwhile experience. The sommelier was extremely knowledgable and explained all the different wines with great confidence. Nice to have a quality restaurant close by.

We had the discovery menu and it was amazing. Every single bite was absolutely delicious. My other half is trying to find the perfect wine he likes and they recommended a great one which he loved. I didn’t have a favourite dish as they were all the best!

From its reputation our dining experience lived up to expectations-both of food interest and quality. Id eaten before at Drakes restaurant in Ripley-I look forward to returning to Sorrels in the near future. PS Waiter service on the day of our visiot was exceptional

Everything about this experience was perfect from the booking onwards. Booking was very easy. Sorrel is a first class restaurant but the atmosphere is very relaxed and the staff are very welcoming. The menu is short but perfect and all choices made were exquisite. The food was exceptional. The wine list is extremely good value for money whilst being extensive enough to cater for all needs and the sommelier was superb. The waiting staff were attentive but not over zealous and catered for our every need, providing perfect service throughout. All special needs were perfectly catered for. Overall a first class dining experience, thank you Sorrel
