My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the discovery menu. Every course was a delight and the paired wines complimented the dishes. The ambience was relaxed and the service attentive without being intrusive. A very pleaseant way to spend a Saturday afternoon

Holder of 3 AA Rosettes and winner of the AA Restaurant of the year 2018, Michelin-starred Sorrel specialises in creating stunningly presented dishes, filled with bold imagination. The menus constantly evolve with the changing seasons, while the restaurant setting is filled with historic British charm, and features rustic exposed wooden beams alongside other original features.

The Sorrel menu celebrates seasonal British flavours, and uses carefully sourced ingredients from the local area, and further afield in the UK. Game dishes include Norfolk quail with tamarind, rhubarb and grapes, while fresh seafood delicacies are showcased with options like scallops with apple and celery cannelloni and cucumber ketchup.

Carefully chosen wines from the sommelier at Sorrel in Dorking perfectly complement the bold, imaginative menu. For dessert, there are unique creations such as hibiscus poached pear with cardamom, goats' milk and crystallised gin.

Combining bold, modern British recipes with a classically styled setting, Sorrel is a 5-minute drive from Dorking West Rail Station.

We had the 9 course tasting menu which was amazing
Great service however I had to ask for the wine list when we got the starters which is not something that should happen in such restaurant
    Great decor and ambiance
Wine too expensive I believe but great wine list presented in a unique manner

Stunning food but patchy service. We arrived at the time we booked and had to wait over 20 minutes for anyone to come near us, and then they offered us water. Generally speaking, the service was very well-informed about the dinner but overstretched in providing prompt reaction to us trying to attract attention.
We had excellent wine but we were surprised that when it was poured out for us the flourish at the end of the bottle dumped a substantial amount of lees into the glass; and again on the second bottle. Decanting, or at least careful pouring, would have been better.

Fantastic meal in a gorgeous restaurant. We loved all the dishes we had, really sophisticated marriage of flavours beautifully presented. Restaurant has 1* Michelin but we felt it was close or at 2*. Complimentary glass of Nytimber and starter nibbles made it a great occasion with relaxed service we will definitely go again. Highly recommended.

This was our fourth visit to Sorrels and we were delighted to sample the new spring menu, which as ever was fine dinning at its very best. The inventiveness of the staff never ceases to amaze as they even remembered that my wife requires a cushion! This is our very favorite restaurant currently and we very much look forward to returning in the near future.

Food mostly very good indeed. Best in Dorking and competes favourably with leading restaurants in Surrey. Desserts (outstanding) and complimentary canapés best. Starters and mains very nice. Portions on the small side and would benefit from more vegetables. Bread (brioche) homemade, but disappointing. Complimentary still and carbonated water served chilled much appreciated. Coffee, with hot milk, better than most restaurants. Tea ceremony unnecessarily fussy, and loses heat - we just want a properly brewed cup of piping hot tea.

Tables quite close together, which means noisier diners can be intrusive. Ambience good. Own car park improves dining experience, providing you get there early enough to find space. Service very attentive, though one staff member perhaps overly familiar and the other a little aloof.

Wonderful. Expensive but superb. Top dish as the cod followed by the ‘cauliflower cheese’

We enjoyed our whole dining experience, everyone was very attentive and made us feel special. Food was amazing and we loved it all especially the starter, main and dessert! The additional touches, ie copy of menu in envelope, meeting the chef/kitchen staff was great - we loved chatting to the chef and watching his staff work; everything was clean and relaxed; good to see happy smiley staff too! Thank you to all staff.

We had a lovely table by the window which was only marred by sight of a man (I would not use the word gentleman!) using the alley opposite as a public convenience when he obviously thought he couldn't be seen - disgusting person!
