Restaurant description

Holder of 3 AA Rosettes and winner of the AA Restaurant of the year 2018, Michelin-starred Sorrel specialises in creating stunningly presented dishes, filled with bold imagination. The menus constantly evolve with the changing seasons, while the restaurant setting is filled with historic British charm, and features rustic exposed wooden beams alongside other original features.

The Sorrel menu celebrates seasonal British flavours, and uses carefully sourced ingredients from the local area, and further afield in the UK. Game dishes include Norfolk quail with tamarind, rhubarb and grapes, while fresh seafood delicacies are showcased with options like scallops with apple and celery cannelloni and cucumber ketchup.

Carefully chosen wines from the sommelier at Sorrel in Dorking perfectly complement the bold, imaginative menu. For dessert, there are unique creations such as hibiscus poached pear with cardamom, goats' milk and crystallised gin.

Combining bold, modern British recipes with a classically styled setting, Sorrel is a 5-minute drive from Dorking West Rail Station.

Dishes displayed on a la carte menus are representative of the type of food available at the restaurant.

Excellent tasting menu and matched wine flight. Perhaps too big for lunchtime? The brill dish stood out. Service very good. A Choice of breads would have been nice.

My husband and I dined her on a Wenesday evening for our 2nd wedding anniversary. We loved the design and layout of the dining space. We were upstairs which was cooler than down (needed as it was a very humid day). Our waiter and the sommelier were both very knowledgeable and gave excellent customer service. We both had the Discovery Menu (7 courses) and they swapped out one dessert for another for me due to a dietary requirement of my pregnancy. The restaurant became busier as the evening went on (we had arrived at 6.15pm) but the service remained attentive. Favourite courses for me were Green, green, green (a celebration of broccoli) and the Brill fish course which had the most tasty miso butter sauce. The chocolate mousse in the Breakfast dish was rich but so smooth. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening here & would love to be able to go more often. Definitely a special occasion place for us though.

We loved the red mullet starter and especially the raspberry and pistachio dessert which was superb. My son liked the brill. I was less enamoured of the rabbit dish. The meat was like a sausage with the meat having been shredded and less to my liking. I have eaten at drakes on the pond, drakes and at Sorrel intotal about 8 times and it was the first time I had not liked a dish. Overall though it was a very enjoyable experience as usual. Thank you to Steve and his team and long may you carry on producing excellent and imaginative fare. It's just a shame you removed coffee and petits fours from the menu!

Excellent. Loved the rabbit. Flavours were excellent throughout. Didn’t like drying my hands on Flimsy tissues In the washrooms. Surely high quality paper towels would be better. In fact you have the, in the restaurant with hand sanitiser.
