Holder of 3 AA Rosettes and winner of the AA Restaurant of the year 2018, Michelin-starred Sorrel specialises in creating stunningly presented dishes, filled with bold imagination. The menus constantly evolve with the changing seasons, while the restaurant setting is filled with historic British charm, and features rustic exposed wooden beams alongside other original features.

The Sorrel menu celebrates seasonal British flavours, and uses carefully sourced ingredients from the local area, and further afield in the UK. Game dishes include Norfolk quail with tamarind, rhubarb and grapes, while fresh seafood delicacies are showcased with options like scallops with apple and celery cannelloni and cucumber ketchup.

Carefully chosen wines from the sommelier at Sorrel in Dorking perfectly complement the bold, imaginative menu. For dessert, there are unique creations such as hibiscus poached pear with cardamom, goats' milk and crystallised gin.

Combining bold, modern British recipes with a classically styled setting, Sorrel is a 5-minute drive from Dorking West Rail Station.

The 9 course tasting menu is an exceptional journey of tastes, textures and invention. The standard is better that two Michelin star restaurants we have visited. Service was efficient and very friendly.

There is a warm welcome both in the restaurant and in the kitchen and chef Steve Drake is happy to talk to you. The food is delicious, creative but not wacky; just amazing flavours to savour with every mouthful. The Sommelier took particular note of my somewhat odd requirements and produced a glass wine that was deliciously perfect. The waiting staff are friendly, informative and discreetly attentive. All in all a delightful experience and second time around had lost none of it's original zest. We will be back.

    Welcoming and relaxing.
    Courses delicious and canapés amazing.
Cheese accompaniments made the course even more enjoyable.
Only thing I didn’t love was the bread, v tasty but a bit rich to start and gave me no excuse to dive into the northern irish butter and I’m from NI.

The first thing was the warmth of the welcome, then we had a chance to see the kitchen and chat to the chef. The service was unhurried but not slow. So we had a chance to enjoy the evening fully. The tables are nicely spaced so we had a comfortable space to talk. The table was large and the seats comfy. This makes such a difference to the whole atmosphere.
Then the food. Each dish was full of vibrant flavours. The portion sizes are small which we found perfect because a heavy 3 course dinner in the evening is hard to digest. But each plate was a work of art to look at and to taste. The waiting staff were very enthusiastic and knowledgable. Best dishes it is hard to choose both the turbot and the beef were exceptional and my sister swears that the mango desert was the best ever.
In summary this is a great restaurant and the perfect place for a special occasion. We will be back for the next one in our family.

Delicious food, creative tastes, beautifully presented, warm friendly staff. Well spaced tables. Michelin with a smile. So lucky we have such a great restaurant here in our town.

Meals slow. Food cold as no one served on time .
However, the restaurant manager responded well to resolve the delay.
    Food was good overall.

Excellent food and wine selection, but missing the offer of a pre-dinner drink before being shown to our table. The table layout was not to our liking - square tables but sitting side by side so you were facing people from the next table. The overall ambience was therefore not great. The bench seating was too low for the table so we were not comfortable. We chose the 3-course menu and although the food was excellent the whole experience took over 3 hours which is way too long. Many other guests seemed to have the same experience as there was a lot of glances to their watches. We would have expected to have the bread with the soup and not after we had eaten it and to have had the bread crumbs removed from the tablecloth.
