Fantastic food and a very reasonable set lunch menu. However, the service didn't match the quality of the food. Our waiter was somewhat a little too laid back. The waiter kept on yawning when taking our orders, seemed indifferent and hostile, and kept on interrupting the conversion at the table.

Dishes were amazing! I had the scallop ceviche and it was delightful! Service was a bit slow, though.

Food was excellent as we expected.
Just one major criticism - we purposely booked the pre- theatre menu. We arrived early at 5.50pm. They were not ready for us and we were shown to the bar area for drinks. We went down to the restaurant area at 6.10pm. The staff did not seem to be aware that we had booked the pre-theatre menu and unfortunately this was demonstrated by the fact that our meal took much longer than we wanted it to. We had to rush the waiting staff to let us have the bill as we were then very short for time for the theatre. Just one tip, if they are going to continue to advertise a pre-theatre menu all concerned should be made more aware of the fact.

Nice and cosy ambience, the foie gras, hake and cod is amazing, however, pork cheeks (main) are quite salty and bland as a dish.

We had the set menu which was really good value. All the dishes were delicious. I had the smoked haddock starter followed by the salmon with vodka risotto; my husband had the egg starter, followed by the pork loin. For dessert he had the tea and toast and I had the rhubarb and custard. We had two gin and tonics to start and two glasses of wine with the meal and it came to under £100 including service. We would definitely go back. We have been to Pollen Street Social before, but enjoyed the Social Eating House much more, and left feeling much fuller and having spent less than half as much!

Amazing food, steak and chips were outstanding but definitely had food envy of the cod dish on the table next to me. Desserts and wine too were sensational as was the decor and atmosphere.
It’s a shame really as the service wasn’t that great - we were left for around 30 minutes at a time between courses and had to make concerted efforts everytine we wanted to get another drink / ask to pay / ask for dessert and the guy who served just seemed as if he did not want to be there. Such a shame!

Despite booking this table a month in advance myself and my wife were sat at a 'bar table' by the front window. When we asked why we were told it's because we booked via bookatable. The email confirmation and the phone call from the restraurant the day before to confirm the reservation didn't mention that this was the case. Not happy at all given the calibre of the restaurant and the price.
