Amazing food, steak and chips were outstanding but definitely had food envy of the cod dish on the table next to me. Desserts and wine too were sensational as was the decor and atmosphere.
It’s a shame really as the service wasn’t that great - we were left for around 30 minutes at a time between courses and had to make concerted efforts everytine we wanted to get another drink / ask to pay / ask for dessert and the guy who served just seemed as if he did not want to be there. Such a shame!

Despite booking this table a month in advance myself and my wife were sat at a 'bar table' by the front window. When we asked why we were told it's because we booked via bookatable. The email confirmation and the phone call from the restraurant the day before to confirm the reservation didn't mention that this was the case. Not happy at all given the calibre of the restaurant and the price.

Oh how I love Jason's restaurants. Social Eating House was delightful. Having arrived there after the gym I was ready to get stuck in. My friend was 40 minutes late and Julian was wonderful to ensure I had food and drink while I waited. Even just their bread was delicious with the home made smokey butter.
His advice was, as a vegetarian, to try the cauliflowr risotto. It came with a hens' egg perfectly cooked, some cabbage and mash. Very delicious and warming, perfect for a nice chilly evening.
My friend had the hake - best I've ever tried. So perfectly cooked, with white asparagus and broccoli, oh delicious. I had order envy until I remembered I too had a delicious dish. The tenderstem broccoli I got on the side was wonderful too and a great selection of cocktails and wine.
Love the place, loved the service and the food, can't wait to go back.

Amazing food with superb service. The Gnocchi starter and cod main course we're particularly delicious.

Love atmosphere, slow service, beautifully presented food, gloriously barbecued rib steak, but the cassoulet beans were rather more al dente than

This is the forth time I've dined here and again I had an exceptionally experience. We arrived a little early, so enjoyed a couple of cocktails at the superb bar upstairs with great staff and a terrific vibe. For dinner, I enjoyed the mushroom entree followed by the lamb. Both expertly prepared. The wine list is well chosen with a good representation of regions and varietals.

Almost a 5 star, BUT! I had such high expectation as everyone I know who visited the place was so impressed, so I was ever so slightly disappointed when things were not as good as I hoped for. I had a table for 3 booked for lunch and were welcomed by very friendly front of the house who showed us our table, straight away we were greeted by a young waiter and a sommelier. As much as the sommelier was very helpful and knowledgeable, waiter had very little to non food knowledge - when asked about the mackerel starter he was not sure if it was roasted / smoked or fried, saying that both, the started and the main (smoked Cumbrian pork) were delicious. I have also ordered truffled white egg with Iberico de Bellota, Jerusalem artichoke, Langres, dandelion and summer truffle which was delicious yet again our waiter could not describe the dish calling the truffle 'spring truffles' (maybe I am being too pedantic?). After the main course restaurant started to get bussier and we had to wait for our dessert around 20 minutes. I have ordered 'float like a peach' but it was so sweet it was ineadible. Though I didn't eat it water took it back when I have asked for the bill and did not ask if there was anything wrong with it. It started so well but ended up on a disappointing note, especially when we have paid £70pp.

Good stuff: location and it is cosy inside, majority of waiting personnel is helpful and accommodating, I enjoyed my starter, the dessert was not bad as well
Not so good stuff: wine came half way through the starter, sommelier rushed to the table with a bottle, did not show the bottle, no hello, no interaction at all, poured wine without offering to taste and left, the main would have been tasty, but it was so salty that I had to request to replace it (it's the first time I had to ask for my meal to be replaced), the replacement was just borderline acceptable for the same reason - salt. If you like a lot of salt, you might enjoy it. The bill came to be paid in full, although I was offered to have service charge removed. I suppose, the bill adjustment should have happened before it reached the table.
I really would like to think that it was one off experience.
