The Smith's Brasserie menu is filled with gourmet takes on British classics. To start, there are favourites like Salcombe crab salad or English pea soup, while mains feature hearty recipes such as roasted lamb fillet with minted French bean salad and balsamic dressing, or cheddar-crusted Salcombe fish pie. Lighter bites include a range of generously filled sandwiches, including a steak, onion and mushroom ciabatta. There are also dedicated vegetarian and kids' menus.

On the dessert menu at Smith's Brasserie, the British classic flavours continue with options like seasonal Eton mess, and sticky toffee pudding with vanilla ice cream. Diners can also choose from the extensive international wine list.

Brasserie staff forgot the birthday candles.
    Summer pudding was solid.

having lived in the area for some time had not realised this little jewel was on our doorstep, the surrounding grounds were lovely, the menu was extensive and accommodating , there was no pressure with the courses, we wanted a long leisurely lunch this was accommodated , all of the courses were very well presented, staff were attenuative but not over baring, polite and courteous , we had four courses and all were excellent, alcohol was slightly over priced but that was to be expected due to the location, the 12.5 service charge was a little bit disappointing as total spend was £340 and does this monies go to staff? as a separate tip was left for staff, we could not complain about any of the dinning experience as we have dinned at Gidleigh Park and Smith's was far superior. we will return to experience the full evening dining in the restaurant and also for lunch to the Smith's brasserie

Fantastic atmosphere, super attentive staff, and gorgeous food. 'Simple' classic dishes but with absolutely every part of them being perfect.

Service was poor with long waits in-between courses and drinks orders. Food was good but nothing special. My husband got the wrong meal, I gave my meal back so I could eat with him and the children ate separately ... My meal has been kept hot as was evident by the meat on its return. The kids menu was poor , burgers/ fish & chips etc, I expect this from a pub menu not a Brasserie ... Was quite loud with the bar area being so open.. Disliked the tv in the eating area, more sports bar than Brasserie, really distracting for the children... We were eating and people were walking over to watch the tv...A little disappointing as this was a Father s day treat...

Delightful setting. Very relaxed atmosphere. Food very good, I had, probably the best beef burger I have ever eaten.

Beautiful setting, and a great set up with stunning views and, best of all, a circular couch with a wood burner in the centre. I had the 8oz Dartmoor Sirloin steak and I have to say it was one of the best I've ever had - melty and perfectly cooked. Had a great night and would happily recommend it to others!

Excellent food, friendly staff, nothing was too difficult and all with a smile. Very flexible and accommodating.

Great service but below average food. You would expect better from a 5 star hotel!
