Restaurant description

Served inside the regal Edwardian Drawing Room, Slaley Hall is an irresistible example of fine British dining. This luxurious 4-star hotel sits in 1000 acres of beautiful Northumbrian countryside, and provides the perfect tranquil setting to enjoy relaxed meals.

All the traditional treats are served on the Afternoon Tea at Slaley Hall menu, and come beautifully presented. To start, there are delicate finger sandwiches with gourmet fillings like poached chicken with lime and coriander mayonnaise, and English salted cucumber with apple crème fraîche, moving on to home-baked plain and sultana scones served with Cornish clotted cream and red berry preserves.

Three restaurants with their own unique atmosphere. Eating and drinking at Slaley Hall is all about trying new dishes, discovering different flavours and tasting exquisite wines from around the world. Head to Mr Kennedy's Brasserie for stunning views and a flavourful menu to match. Enjoy an indulgent Afternoon Tea, mouthwatering Sunday Lunch and Northumberland inspired dining in the historic and atmospheric Dukes or a light bite with golf course views at The Claret Jug. When the day is done, retire in the evening to the Whisky Snug or the Tommy Craig's for a tipple or two and late night conversation when the world is put to rights.

A great example of elegant British tradition, Afternoon Tea at Slaley Hall is a 20-minute drive from Hexham.

Staff were very friendly and helpful, covid rules and regulations were in place which made us feel very safe. The staff were very accommodating with the sandwich request I had asked for and delt with it without any fuss.

Booking service very simple, worked well. Limited menu at this time, but again very decent choices and good quality. The service was especially good, Mikel ( Michael) and his team did the Slaley name proud.

Food great Menu find Staff overworked/under pressure - more staff needed !! I suggest 1 taking and sorting drinks 1 taking and sorting food 1 clearing away tables/crockery etc 1 cleaning in full PPE - apron, gloves, visor (I am a nurse in nhs and was shocked to see this !) not bare hands, then back serving. Table cloths also needed at breakfast as tables are very sticky from alcohol spray. !!

We had the birdcage afternoon tea in the whiskey snug. It was fabulous. We were very well looked after by Christian, who was very friendly and attentive. Nothing was too much trouble. It was my partner's birthday so he brought along a little extra surprise as well.
