Restaurant description

A rooftop bar and restaurant, Sky By The Water is located on the fifth floor of Resorts World Birmingham, and serves up classic cooking and cocktails in a relaxed, rooftop setting.

The Sky By The Water menu showcases contemporary twists added to classic British and French dishes. Unmissable desserts come from a pastry team headed by Darryl Collins, finalist on Channel 4’s Bake Off: The Professionals.

At the bar, the cocktail menu sees twisted classics, like the Superstar Martini, Applepolitan, Lush Bellini and a crystal clear Mojito joined by dessert cocktails, unique gin infusions and fine wines and beers. The newest addition is the Secret Garden, a secluded outdoor spot for guests to enjoy drinks and light bites, complete with cosy covered pods and a stunning glass bar area.

Resorts World is just a 10-minute train journey from Birmingham New Street and Coventry stations, less than 10 minutes by foot from Birmingham International. By car, it’s at J6 of the M42 and just off the A45.

Dishes displayed on a la carte menus are representative of the type of food available at the restaurant.

Great food , we felt spoiled by the fabulous starters , mains and deserts. Unfortunately the only downsize for the atmosphere , quite noisy restaurant, even for a Wednesday evening . Service was great but by the end of the meal , because the restaurant was full , the waiters were overwhelmed with the service and desert took 30 minutes to order and another 10-15 minutes to be able to have the bill and pay. Still , would defensively come back for the food.

Booked an afternoon tea as an anniversary treat, having visited the bar for drinks on a previous visit. We were welcomed on arrival and could choose where to sit. The view is great! Food was very well presented and very tasty. Personally we'd have preferred more savoury options than sweet but it was all excellent. Our waiter was very attentive.

On arrival we were seated earlier than our booking and our drinks order was taken and arrived quickly. Our food order was taken efficiently, our starters arrived within 10 minutes of our order being taken which I found to be quite quick, it wasn’t overly busy so thought that maybe why, our starters were cleared and we started to relax whilst waiting for our mains but then within 7 minutes the mains arrived, the food looked lovely but we weren’t ready and would have liked a bit longer in between courses. Mains were cleared and we were left to enjoy our wine, we were not asked if we wanted any dessert and had to request coffee. The dishes were all superb and very tasty, the atmosphere was lively in the bar area and staff were all friendly. Overall our experience was enjoyable, we just would have liked some more time between courses.

Fabulous food, we love it here. I has smoked salmon starter, partner had goats cheese, followed by duck breast and pork. Cannot fault the food or the staff, wonderful experience, thoroughly enjoyed it. Well done to all the brigade a perfect team. Just wish you were closer to Halesowen as it is a journey but well worth it. Thank you.

This is a lovely restaurant with a great atmosphere, the food is of the highest quality which is matched by the amazing service. There were 7 in our party ordering a variety of dishes everyone was extremely impressed with the quality of the food and service. We have visited the restaurant on a number of occasions and each time it has exceeded our expectations.

Food and service was lovely, atmosphere was great. Only issue was the fact that there was a 10% gratuity on the bill yet the waiter failed to return with our change from paying the bill obviously thinking it was his tip. Will request gratuity removed next time and leave appropriate tip ourselves.
