Restaurant description

Holder of a Michelin Plate, Siren at The Goring showcases the best of Cornish produce, under the direction of the renowned British chef, Nathan Outlaw.

The architecture and interior design for Siren has been led by Russell Sage, who has created an uplifting space, accentuating the impeccably English and perfectly individual feel of this unique hotel.

The Siren menu offers exquisite dishes such as cured monkfish, ginger, fennel and yoghurt, and red mullet with devilled shrimp butter and chicory. These sit alongside a wide range of daily specials that reflect the freshest fish available direct from Cornwall each day, such as lobster grilled over fire with herbs and garlic and grilled whole monkfish for 2 to share.

Excellent value with the set menu giving delicious options. Slight problem with service - in that we arrived and were left waiting... and waiting. Various staff members either kept their backs to us and didn't engage or caught our eye and floated away. In the end, we decided where we wanted to sit and simply took over the table. As the restaurant wasn't busy, it was hard to see why we couldn't have been greeted and seated as I'd have expected. The restaurant I think realised their error and tried to make up for it.

This new offering at the Goring (since June ‘19) will be a nice addition to their bar food menu and their Michelin starred dining room it was bright, and airy. Although we were partial to their old open air patio facility which this replaced it is not too far away from that The food is good although you better be ready for seafood with only a steak and duck breast available otherwise in the main course offerings The service was professional but slow even by European standards. This is a wonderful hotel and Siren is a good addition with exceptional potential

Siren proved an excellent restaurant for a pre-theatre supper. The food and wine were very good and the service was outstanding - charming and efficient.
