An intimate Japanese eatery in one of London's most famous neighbourhoods, Shoryu Soho boasts the UK's largest selection of sake, shochu and umeshu, served alongside a celebrated collection of ramen delicacies. This intimate, minimalist eatery also boasts a basement private dining area for special occasions.
The varied Shoryu menu is headed by ramen noodle dishes, made with 12-hour-cooked broth, juicy pork belly and a nitamago egg. Guests can select extra toppings, as well as sides like prawn tempura, gyoza dumplings and doughy shoryu buns. Traditional desserts at Shoryu include mochi balls, cleansing sorbets and Japanese-inspired cheesecakes and cakes.
Along with a list of enticing house cocktails, Shoryu in Soho serves iced beers and Japanese whisky, and a sake-expert sommelier is on hand to help with matching drinks. In the dining room, guests can dine at communal benches for views into the kitchen, at private tables, all in chic, minimalist surroundings with Japanese stylistic touches.
An acclaimed Japanese dining spot in central London, Shoryu Soho is a 2-minute walk from Piccadilly Circus Tube Station.

Slow service, tables too close to one another for private conversations; feels like it is aimed at 18-35 age group

I have always found the food to be delicious! My favorite dishes were the Shoryu Tonkatsu ramen with the chicken karage bun. The only thing that was lacking was the service. It took a bit to get seated (even though I had a reservation) and took even longer for us to order. So, unfortunately the service wasn't great, but at other locations it is much better, so I would give this particular location another chance. The highlight was definitely the food.

Food was very good. My mother would have liked to have been provided a large plate to eat her rice and meat from but one was not available & her drinks order was forgotten; minor things but enough to lower my scoring. Otherwise a very enjoyable experience.

We reserved a table for 8 (the most you can on the web site) even though we had a party of 9. They were very accommodating. The food was great (I had the house ramen with the extra hearty broth), except that my 8 year old ordered gyoza and it took over 45 minutes for them to get him his food. We had all received and eaten our food by the time he got his. The manager was very apologetic, did not charge us for the gyoza and gave us a pretty significant % off of our meal, which was appreciated.
