Restaurant description

An intimate Japanese eatery in one of London's most famous neighbourhoods, Shoryu Soho boasts the UK's largest selection of sake, shochu and umeshu, served alongside a celebrated collection of ramen delicacies. This intimate, minimalist eatery also boasts a basement private dining area for special occasions.

The varied Shoryu menu is headed by ramen noodle dishes, made with 12-hour-cooked broth, juicy pork belly and a nitamago egg. Guests can select extra toppings, as well as sides like prawn tempura, gyoza dumplings and doughy shoryu buns. Traditional desserts at Shoryu include mochi balls, cleansing sorbets and Japanese-inspired cheesecakes and cakes.

Along with a list of enticing house cocktails, Shoryu in Soho serves iced beers and Japanese whisky, and a sake-expert sommelier is on hand to help with matching drinks. In the dining room, guests can dine at communal benches for views into the kitchen, at private tables, all in chic, minimalist surroundings with Japanese stylistic touches.

An acclaimed Japanese dining spot in central London, Shoryu Soho is a 2-minute walk from Piccadilly Circus Tube Station.

We were placed at our reserved tables immediately, and the staff were friendly, attentive, and able to alter the dishes (ingredients) where possible without issues. Was able to specify whether we'd like the noodles soft or standard. BBQ Bun, Prawn Tempura and Ramen bowls were great. Highly recommend.

Great food, excellent Tonkotsu ramen with juicy pork. Cramped tables and hit and miss service - had to confirm 3 times that I wanted a hot matcha latte not iced and still received ice. Asked for sugar but then wasn’t given a spoon.

Great ramen! The soup is extremely fragrant!! I recommend booking because it gets crowded at meal times.

Was very busy during our visit but still managed to maintain a good level of service. Food came promptly and was delicious. Not too noisy despite being busy.

    Ramen!

Ramen was very good and authentic taste, good portion and good value. Service was a bit shambolic, we got the noodles before the starters and we had to chase the drinks order, but it was a busy Friday evening! The restaurant's identity is a bit confusing, is it a noodle bar or a restaurant that serves noodles, the attempts at authentic 'Japanese customer welcoming' - "Irrashaimase!" was very half-hearted and soon ceased altogether. Staff dress code was also off, some had 'Hapi' coats, others t-shirts, not always clear who was staff and who were customers, and who was serving which table. We would go back again for the noodles, maybe at a quieter time in the hope of better service.

Food was lovely you kindda have to book in advance to make sure they have availability as it could get really packed and getting the attention of the waitresses quite difficult at busy times and the service charge is 12.5% still.
