Restaurant description

Championed by critics including Jay Rayner, AA Gill, and Time Out, Shoryu Liverpool Street serves authentic Japanese cuisine. As well as being renowned for its ramen noodle dishes, Shoryu presents an electrifying yakitori grill immersed within the buzz of the dining room.

The varied Shoryu menu is headed by ramen noodle dishes, made with 12-hour-cooked broth, juicy pork belly and a nitamago egg. Guests can select extra toppings, as well as sides like prawn tempura, gyoza dumplings and doughy shoryu buns. Traditional desserts at Shoryu Liverpool Street include mochi balls, cleansing sorbets and Japanese-inspired cheesecakes and cakes.

Along with a list of enticing house cocktails, Shoryu in London serves iced beers and Japanese whisky, and a sake-expert sommelier is on hand to help with matching drinks. In the dining room, guests can dine at communal benches for views into the kitchen, at private tables, or outdoors within lively Broadgate Circle when the sun shines.

A favourite for casual Japanese dining in London, find Shoryu just 2 minutes’ walk from Liverpool Street Station.

Ramen was delicious! I had the original tonkotsu with a side of the bamboo shoots. Really nice and good quality ramen! Also would recommend the gyoza, pork buns and sashimi. Very nice bright restaurant.

It was ok. Been to other Shoryu restaurants in London which definitely seemed to be run better. Service was the big issue for me. They seemed to have almost 10 people running around not doing much. I asked for edamame beans at one stage and the waiter didn't seem to understand me, walked off and never came back. Also, upon sitting down, I ordered some sparkling water and was brought still water. When I highlighted this to one of the waiters, it literally took 10-15 minutes to do the simple thing of removing the still bottle of water and replacing it with sparkling. Guy at the front welcoming people was a bit over the top and when we were 10 minutes early for our booking, got us to wait outside with no offer of a drink or something else. Much needed improvement with service based on my experience.

We thoroughly enjoyed the food especially the buns and teriyaki skewers. The waiter was unsure how to make a gin martini as it wasn't on the drinks menu however someone must have known because two duly arrived at the table. My son enjoyed the ramen so much that we went back on Sunday for more along with the excellent value 2 for 1 deal on buns.

The food was excellent, and because there was a delay with our order we were given drinks on the house. Highly recommend

First time eating at Shoryu and it did not disappoint! The food was good and so was the staff and service! Everything tasted fresh and delicious. The fried prawn tempura and edamame beans were the best along with the grilled salmon.
