This was a poor showing from start to finish. The room was bare and drab, the tables sparse. The service ridiculously poor - we confirmed one in the party had a nut allergy and was later asked if almonds were ok! We had to request information regarding the contents of the afternoon tea and the waitress could not confirm the different sandwiches or various cakes. The food looked like it had been defrosted from an ASDA meal deal. The service was slow and the whole experience a huge disappointment. I had purchased this as a treat for my sister after a hard few weeks and it failed miserably to impress. Would certainly not recommend to anyone. And I would have liked to leave the ratings below at zero as it deserves no stars at all, but the report would not let me exit without at least 1 star.

Afternoon tea really lovely. Tables nicely spaced out & lots of room. Food very fresh and selection was lovely. Would highly recommend.

Not what we expected- more like a conference room than a restaurant with very uncomfortable seating! Steak was overcooked and poor beer selection

The food was excellent and the room was lovely with huge windows overlooking the grounds. Probably due to COVID, the dinner menu was a little limited but the dishes they did offer were delicious, especially the blackberry and apple crumble. It was a nice surprise to discover the restaurant was participating in the Eat Out to Help Out Scheme which made the bill very reasonable.

Service was quite slow. The starter and pudding were lovely. The main course wasn’t. I had the sea bass with a herby potato cake which was disgusting. The texture was awful and it was congealed and cold and not nice at all.

It was lovely. Wouldn’t have even known we were in middle of covid. Beautiful sunny airy dining room. Seated on great sized table right in front of the windows. Service was attentive and very friendly ( huge thanks Kai, and the gent who served our mains and young lady who cleared our plates, and the other young lad serving, plus larger fellow with beard - manager? Friendly too) and food was delicious. Breakfast next morning excellent. Was worried that as it wasn’t self serve it wouldn’t be so good. Needn’t have worried as full English fab. ( loved the tasty hash brown, mushrooms and sausages especially) didn’t skimp on portions either so well done.

Lighting was terrible a fluorescent green lit the ceilings, made you feel bilious. The waiting staff were in the inexperienced i.e clearing down without mind to knives and forks, plates noise and cupboard doors being open and shut getting ready for breakfast. They had no clue to the ambience they ruined for diners. No wine list produced, ice bucket which no cloth to wipe bottle. The only Saving grace was the food was delicious such a shame the rest let it down.. Hotel was chaotic when we arrived large wedding meant slow and awkward start. Shown with wave of hand where we could have lunch - no staff no menus. Gin and tonic served with slimline tonic although not asked for. Felt like they were closing shutter down on bar, felt very uncomfortable . Rooms clean and comfortable

Great food and lovely surroundings. Went to celebrate our silver wedding anniversary, having had our reception at Shendish 25 years ago and weren't disappointed. Would definitely go back.

Awful service! We were not offered bread rolls before our meal whilst everyone else was. We had the butter on the table but no bread. We also ordered potatoes to accompany my wifes' vegetarian meal and they never arrived either. We were very disappointed overall as it was our 31st anniversary celebration.
