Named one of The Sunday Times’ top 20 places to dine by the sea, Sheldrakes Restaurant offers classic Mediterranean cuisine in a picturesque setting. Enjoy unrivalled views over the Dee Estuary and the Welsh Mountains via floor-to-ceiling windows.

The Sheldrakes menu features dishes like scallops with chicken croquette and pomegranate salsa, or pancetta-wrapped monkfish. Desserts include chocolate fondant with salted caramel banana parfait, and the traditional afternoon tea is also popular.

With a range of specialist wines, beers and local cask ales, and an exotic selection of cocktails, guests can watch the sunset on the terrace with a drink, or venture to the 1st-floor viewing gallery.

Sheldrakes in Ellesmere Port offers live music evenings and a high-tide-dining option. Heswall is the closest station, a 9-minute drive away.

It was a shame that the service was very slow and they have stopped the 2 course lunch time special menu. Would have to say not as good as in the past.

Almost put off by the voicemail being full but persisted and used bookatable. It was a perfect evening at Shelldrakes. The sun was setting a nice breeze on the patio. We were greeted by staff on our arrival asked if we would like a particular table drinksand menus were brought promtly. The food was excellent we shared the seafood platter and we all enjoyed our main course. The restaurant was busy but we had a relaxed evening with good service.

Great location but was not impressed with having to send a fatty over done steak back and then receiving replacement when my fellow diners had virtually finished theirs...'Simply Shelldakes' means just that!

Fantastic! We went for afternoon tea to celebrate my sister's birthday. The food was amazing and the service top-class. Beautiful location and we were lucky to have a sunny day.

Our experience was sub standard to say the least. The deal that we had booked was disallowed due to us not having a voucher with us however, when booked online there was no facility or obvious facility to print off a voucher. Your waiter's response to this was simply he didn't know because they change constantly. My main course of pheasant breast was severely overcooked and my sweet potato fries (straight from the freezer) were cold. My pudding of a bakewell slice was burnt which your chef was clearly aware of because it was disguised with a lump of ice cream. If I wanted pub standard food at pub prices I would have gone to a pub. This meal was for my husband's birthday which frankly was ruined.
