over all, congenial, friendly service

Great experience. Slightly dearer than normal chinese but worth it for the service, decor, ambience and ample portions. They teach you Chinese in the bathroom, free after-meal cigarettes, some quite erotic artwork on the walls. Quirky.

It has become one of our family favourites and we love it there. Have yet to try something from the vast menu that we did not like.

You can tell a lot about a restaurant from the basic things. This place failed on a lot of dimensions:- The window sill where you sit next to is filthy. Looks like it hasn't been cleaned or dusted in weeks- I've never, never, been to a Chinese restaurant where the chinese tea is served using tea bags. The Chrysanthemum tea was dish water and to charge [$]for two stale tea bags is a joke- The beef rice noodle dish, a staple of chinese restaurants, had no more than 6 tiny pieces of beef in a huge bowl of rice noodles that clumped together showing poor techniqueBased on our lunch experience, it's not somewhere where we would return to.

The food and service are excellent. Be sure to book in advance, as they get busy...for a good reason.
