A beautiful red-brick Victorian pub with grand arched windows, the Shakespeare serves a delicious menu of hearty British pub classics and a diverse selection of drinks. Because of its proximity to the Jewellery Quarter, the pub was a favourite haunt of goldsmiths and silversmiths in the 19th-century.
Since Nicholson’s pubs were first established in 1873, these traditional British inns have become synonymous with warm hospitality, hearty pub food and a speciality range of ales. As well as always featuring British pub classics like beer-battered fish & chips and gammon & eggs, the Shakespeare menu is complemented by a rotating selection of pie, sausage & chop and fish specials for each season.
The Shakespeare bar is always stocked with exquisite gins, warming whiskies and fine wines to pair with favourite meals, and there’s always a superb range of seasonal and regional real ales on offer. A constant at the bar is the St Austell-brewed Nicholson’s Pale Ale, made with Cornish Maris Otter malts, and a hand-picked blend of English hops.
The Shakespeare in Birmingham is a 12-minute walk from Birmingham Snow Hill Rail Station.

Excellent food and service, especially with it being a very busy premises at this time of year. Everyone in our party of 7 had a different meal and not one complaint from any of us. Service was excellent after a mix up in the number of people booked, they had 4 people when it was 7, but they were more than helpful in accommodating us.

Cosy and homely space at the back to have food. Quick service and very willing to help and change anything should it not be to your satisfaction without any fuss

Very enjoyable lunch. The Shakespeare in Summer Row is a lovely traditional pub and, with good weather, it was a real treat to sit outside and relax. I had the Hunter's Chicken, which was delicious, and my colleagues had ham hock and scampi respectively, which they both enjoyed. The ham hock looked particularly good and may be my choice next time.

Really enjoyed our meal at the Shakespeare. Staff were really friendly and there was a brilliant pub quiz just after we finished dining. Will definitely be back there soon.
