As every, the simple menu was imaginative and delicious; the extensive wine list offers an amazing choice and some value options; the service is attentive without being obtrusive

I booked this last minute (the day before) as a treat for my mum, who was visting me. The staff were very helpful contacting me before the visit for card details to secure the booking. The hotel was easy to find and everyone on site was very polite and informative. The afternoon tea was very pleasant and the theme (board games) added a little uniqueness to the meal. It took some time for staff to approach us at the end of the meal for payment, but overall I would definitely recommend. I'm only putting three stars for ambience as the room was extremely warm. Someone from another table did ask them to turn the heating down as we were leaving and I could have asked too (but you know, British politeness) but it would have been nice for the staff to notice how stifling the room was becoming and amended accordingly.

We went during the London Restaurant Festival when special menus at reduced prices are offered. We were surprised that a Michelin starred restaurant would offer a large piece of bacon in a broth with root vegetables. Pleasant for peasant food. The wine paired was a Bulgarian in supposed claret style. We did point this out and were given a discount on the bill. The staff were charming, but difficult to get a top-up of water, so not as attentive as one would expect.

Our anniversary meal dinner at the restaurant was a very lovely experience, the food was lovely and beautifully presented in every way. There is however one thing which I found exceptional and that was the service they offered. All the staff were very friendly and helpful in a nice understated sort of way which I really liked. The attention to detail was marvellous they did not know it was our anniversary until half way through our meal but presented us with a lovely little dish to celebrate it at the end of the meal.
Really liked the quiet intimate feel of the bar and restaurant which is exactly what I wanted for the evening.
I will recommend to family and friends thank you and thank you to your staff.

We had the tasting game menu and wine pairing. The food was lovely but the wine was especially good. The service was excellent as expected.

We opted for the menu gourmand which was 8 course of game related dishes. Absolutely fabulous - with paired wine.
