We ate early on Monday evening from the excellent value set menu. Although the choice was limited our duck confit was delicious and preceded by excellent broccoli and stilton soup. My husband paid extra for the tasty cheeses whilst I had a gorgeous portion of trifle. A good experience.

Avery pleasant meal. We had the 3 special deal which was very good value. Searcy’s is reliable for high quality and good value wherever we have been.

    Food good service appalling
We were told on the booking that we had to vacate the table in 120 minutes and yet all we had in first 45 minutes was some water and menus. No one came to take our food or wine order until I spoke to the manager.

    - The venue: splendid decor, tables well spaced, seating very comfortable
    - The food: excellent. Dishes very well prepared, good portions, tasty ingredients, well presented
    - The service: shockingly awful - apart from the waiter whose shift started at 3pm and a colleague who filled in for our designated waiter, who showed no interest whatsoever in serving us. The 2 receptionists greeters were no better than prison wardens. A welcome and a smile would have been the minimum one would expect. Not long faces and a bored attitude. They escorted us dismissively to the table. I had booked for 4 but gave us a table for 5, then we were ignored by the waiter staff for 30 minutes. Not ideal for a restaurant in a station... As a result I can only give you 3 stars as an overall experience.

At first, all was well and we got most of the food we ordered. Then we suffered delay, exacerbated by impatient children. We like Searcy's very much but the evening fell somewhat short of their usual (high) standards. The service charge was not applied after we mentioned the shortcomings to the Maitre D. The piped music was obtrusive.

Great food as always. Staff were struggling a little and many customers were kept waiting. Not the normal speed and efficiency of service.

The ambience and decor are lovely but on this occasion, I fear the execution of food and service failed to live up to the grand design. The oysters were disappointingly lacking flavour and depth, the sea bream which all three of our party took, was slightly overcooked and the ravioli pesto parcel unpleasant in texture, being overly slippery with no bite and the pesto flavour barely discernible. The treacle tarts were tasty but would surely benefit from being served warm rather than cold? The espressos were so bitter as to cause the face to contort in order to swallow. On the plus side, the broccoli fritters were very good and the main waiter (wearing a suit rather than uniform) was excellent and clearly trying his best to keep service running smoothly despite fairly long waits for drinks, two of the three courses and the coffee. All in all, I would describe the experience as style over substance.

Although the carrots was under cooked, the food and service were excellent!
