There are few spots on the London landscape as striking as Searcys at The Gherkin, where HELIX restaurant has reopened to the public this September. A proud celebration of British produce in one of London’s finest landmarks, the menus put seasonal and local produce centre stage, all while enjoying panoramic views from the top levels of one of London’s most iconic skyscrapers.

Perched high above the City, HELIX restaurant now occupies both level 39 and top level 40, offering epic 360° views to the public. The new all-day dining menu is led by seasonal and local produce. Highlights include Roast pumpkin velouté served with caraway toast, apple and almond; Miso cod loin with roast cauliflower, verjuice and grapes, and White chocolate cremeux, passion fruit, baked chocolate and mint (£28 for 2 courses and £35 for 3 courses).

The menu is accompanied by carefully selected champagne and wine list, and cocktails created by their own mixologist Alessio Aufiero. The restaurant is open Monday to Friday, from 12 pm with the last seating at 18.30.

New for 2020, is their daily Afternoon tea (from £35 per person).

Excellent venue Very sow service in the bar. Our drinks order was taken. After a long wait a maitre de approached and asked to verify my son’s age and his girlfriends age. This I do not have a problem with, but my son felt insulted and rather uncomfortable when he was told “you just look so young”. I thought the Maitre de looked pretty awful for his age actually but I am more polite than he is and kept my thoughts to myself. We also ordered bar snacks which never materialised. Lunch in the restaurant was very good. Food and wine were excellent. We were not rushed which gave us the opportunity to enjoy all the views.

We had a lovely time celebrating a friend's 70th. We ordered from the set menu and the food was light and tasty. Staff friendly and efficient. Of course the views were great and we liked having our coffee at the top.

We started our dinner with drinks at the bar. Nice ambience, the views were marvellous (luckily, the gherkin is not yet surrounded by skyscrapers on all sides), and we were well advised by the knowledgable bartender as to which cocktail to choose. We were then led to our table, which we were happy to discover was at the window. We had requested it and it was nice to see that someone had read the e-mail. Table service was also faultless. The food was good in particular the radicchio starter and the lamb dish, but perhaps a bit overpriced (although the setting and the view made up for that). Also, we'd like to say thank you to the restaurant staff and the kitchen for remembering our wedding anniversary with a little "Petit Fours" at the end of our meal.

My friend and I had the sharing short ribs dish with the pairing wine followed by an espresso martini. All excellent. We had a great view from our table and the service was very good.

Was extremely lovely, got moved to a window seat once the previous couple had finished. They moved all out stuff for us and we’re extremely lovely. Food was also incredible, nothing was rushed and it was all fresh

Great setting, good food and music, although the food was not exceptional.

The restaurant is very impressive and has great views. Unfortunately when we arrived the tables closest to the window were all taken, as they freed up we asked to be moved closer to the view but were told that we couldn't as there were more bookings coming, even though they stayed empty for the majority of our dinner. I had the duck appetiser and the lamb main which were both very tough. The food was a bit of a disappointment and certainly did not justify the price tag.

I thought for the price paid upfront, the food was extremely poor. Our starter came out after a minute of ordering the food which means that the food would have been sat there for a while. The salmon to start was extremely dry and the main course which was Lamb was extremely fatty and had to cut a lot off the meat. really disappointed and then to be charged £35 service charge on top for all of that. we were asked if we wanted water at the start and never was asked again. what was the service charge for?

Overall great. Atmosphere, food and service great. Would have expected slightly better pudding and afters. The cheese was not the best choice and no alternative available. Otherwise all great
