Set in the small streets of Shoreditch, Sanjugo London celebrates London’s diversity and offers Japanese cuisine from highly experienced and creative chef Jerry. A cosy venue with a relaxed atmosphere, the open sushi counter offers views of the sushi chefs in action.
Sourcing the very best of the season’s produce, the Sanjugo menu features sharing boards and a diverse list of maki rolls, nigiri, sashimi and temaki, plus a grill and tempura selection. Sample Sanjugo restaurant favourites like hiramasa salad, comprising beautifully thin-sliced hiramasa fish with a ponzu white truffle oil and marinated salmon roe, or the bright and colourful signature dish sashimi omakase, served chilled on a bed of ice cubes.
For dessert, Sanjugo London specialises in mochi ice cream, a variation of authentic mocha, whilst Japanese sake leads the drinks menu.
Sanjugo London is just 5 minutes’ walk from Old Street Station, 8 minutes from Liverpool Street Station, and 12 minutes’ walk from Shoreditch High Street Overground Station.

Sanjugo is a special gem in Shoreditch/Old street/Liverpool street station area.
We had yuki ume as drinks, patron pepper and seaweed salad as starters, sake kama, salmon donburi, soft shell crab maki roll and unagi roll as mains. We also got toro nigiri which was the best I've ever had in my life!
Every dishes were perfectly cooked and the service was great too. This place is undeniably my favorite Japanese restaurant in London. Highly recommend!

Sanjugo (35) is easily one of the best Japanese I've been to in London so far - if not the best.
Booked a table for two for Saturday evening thinking it might be extremely busy, given it's rating. To my surprise, however, the restaurant had only a few people in.
After going through the menu for a good while (the waiter's patience was commendable, given it did take sometime to decide the dishes - and, of course, the wine) my friend and me opted for a combination of:
- 5 Sashimi Omakase;
-2x Takara Plum wine; and
-2x Green Tea / Black Sesame mochi ice cream to finish everything off.
First of all, the sashimi was cut nice and thick whilst being incredibly fresh whilst every single piece melting in the mouth.
Iidako Karaage and Seafood Kakiage were both absolutely amazing. The octopus was both golden and crispy on the outside, whilst still maintaining its chewy quality. Seafood Kakiage was just right, served with mayo and greens on the side. Hijiki rice was a very good choice, given it complemented the Seafood Kakiage remarkably well.
One of my favourite dishes of the night was however Nasu Denggaku, which blew both me and my taste buds away. Who knew grilled aubergine and miso paste put together could work such wonders together? Absolutely loved it!
Was pleasantly surprised by finding Takoyaki on the menu, as I genuinely adore that dish and could eat takos all day long. One of the Kansai dishes I miss the most. These Takos were identical to the one you could from a great street vendor around Juso in Osaka, both in quality and the way they were served with bonito flakes and mayo.
To cap the dinner off, we had two sets of green tea and black sesame mochi ice cream, which was in fact perfect. The Takara plum wine was a very good addition as well in between all of the dishes and was extremely happy to have tried it.
Service and chef - both deserve 10 stars!

Came to London for a business meeting and my friends brought me here. Amazed by the artist chef. Loved the experience.
