A chic pop-up dining hotspot in London, Sanderson showcases eclectic international indulgences in a year-round summery setting. The Mad Hatter's Tea Party at Sanderson offers a unique twist on the classic afternoon tea.
Celebrating the 150th anniversary of Alice in Wonderland, menus are hidden inside vintage books, kings and queens adorn teapots and sandwich plates decorated with zebras, birdcages and ticking clocks.
The Mad Hatters afternoon tea menu features delectable savoury bites, including smoked salmon quails egg with caviar and cream cheese, and melt-in-your-mouth King of Hearts ham and parmesan croque-monsieur stack.
Completing the experience, come face to face with Tweedle Dee’s lemon and curd financier before enjoying the mocha chessboard gateau and with the Mad March Hare vanilla pocket watch macaroon, there’s no excuse to be late for this important date! Wash everything down with Alice-themed cocktails and for the afternoon tea traditionalists, finish up with warm scones clotted cream and fruit preserves.
Diverse flavours and eclectic recipes make Sanderson in Fitzrovia a favourite in London’s fashionable West End. Goodge Street Tube Station is a 6-minute walk away.

Food was good, staff was super friendly. music was too loud and didn’t fit with the Alice in wonderland theme which was a bummer

I do think the service has gone down. I come here a lot and haven’t been in years and it’s not what it used to be.

Only one thing to say “Absolutely fantastic”!!!!

I was thoroughly disappointed. Apart from a teapot and plates with some drawings on it the mad hatters theme did not really come across. The building was soo outdated and needs an overhaul. The seating was uncomfortable and the food was poor in comparison to afternoon teas I have been to. Friends recommended to me after they had been a year ago. The pictures they showed me of their food looked soo much better! Standards have clearly dropped. Only plus I can give it is the selection of teas on offer.

I have been to afternoon tea twice before with nothing but praise for the whole experience. On this latest occasion the service was inexcusable. Reservation for a 3 pm sitting. Table ready at 3.25pm. No afternoon tea served until 4.10 pm and that was only after complaining 3 times. Two other tables were served before mine but arrived after me. There was no explanation as to why I had to wait for so long except the waiter said the food is made fresh for each customer. if this was correct why was the read used for the sandwiches moist with the filling from the sandwich! So disappointed as I took my daughter in law for a treat knowing twice before it was a good experience. Sadly I wasn’t the only customer complaining. The service team seemed to be going around like headless chickens with no direction or leadership.
