Restaurant description

A chic pop-up dining hotspot in London, Sanderson showcases eclectic international indulgences in a year-round summery setting. The Mad Hatter's Tea Party at Sanderson offers a unique twist on the classic afternoon tea.

Celebrating the 150th anniversary of Alice in Wonderland, menus are hidden inside vintage books, kings and queens adorn teapots and sandwich plates decorated with zebras, birdcages and ticking clocks.

The Mad Hatters afternoon tea menu features delectable savoury bites, including smoked salmon quails egg with caviar and cream cheese, and melt-in-your-mouth King of Hearts ham and parmesan croque-monsieur stack.

Completing the experience, come face to face with Tweedle Dee’s lemon and curd financier before enjoying the mocha chessboard gateau and with the Mad March Hare vanilla pocket watch macaroon, there’s no excuse to be late for this important date! Wash everything down with Alice-themed cocktails and for the afternoon tea traditionalists, finish up with warm scones clotted cream and fruit preserves.

Diverse flavours and eclectic recipes make Sanderson in Fitzrovia a favourite in London’s fashionable West End. Goodge Street Tube Station is a 6-minute walk away.

Ab loved it. We have been to quite a few afternoon teas in the past. We all agreed it was the best. Very relaxed delicious food and Anthony was so lovely and really added to our enjoyment.

too sweet and sandwiches were mostly seafood/fish so couldn’t eat half of it. asked for more ‘non-seafood’ to be bought out and was told to ‘eat what was there first and then they’d bring more’. complete waste of food and money. ending up leaving lots

Enjoyed the food and tea very much. Overall we felt as we were there at the end of the day the service and special touches/details were missing. Noticed the ‘drink me’ labels were missing from the drinks bottles. Also we seemed to be missing something others were eating from a terracotta pot??? We also felt the area was too crowded and the atmosphere wasn’t special in any way. Not sure if the area is under renovation but it certainly needs it! The Cushions and my tea cup were not very clean. Considering the prices for the tea and hotel. I would have expected a better experience and level of service.

Had an amazing afternoon tea experience with my mother. The cakes all fit into the Alice in Wonderland theme and it was all enchanting. The savouries were outstanding and the tea we selected 'Alice' was the best tea I've ever had. Service was great and our hostess was incredibly polite and helpful. We didn't like all of the cakes that were offered but that's more about personal taste than a reflection on the quality. And there was plenty to eat! We were both happy and stuffed as we walked out of there.

Although at the pricier end of the scale this afternoon did not dissapoint.. service was fantastic, they catered to out allergies with no issues on the day, the food was detailed and tasty.. beautiful settings and could not fault it! Did not feel rushed at all as was unlimited hot drinks.. we left absolutely stuffed as there were scones as well!
