A chic pop-up dining hotspot in London, Sanderson showcases eclectic international indulgences in a year-round summery setting. At the luxurious 5-star Sanderson Hotel, the buzzing Long Bar and the exquisite courtyard garden bar serve up fresh, exotic cocktails whilst the Mad Hatter's Tea Party at Sanderson offers a unique twist on the classic afternoon tea.

Celebrating the 150th anniversary of Alice in Wonderland, menus are hidden inside vintage book, kings and queens adorn teapots and sandwich plates decorated with zebras, birdcages and ticking clocks.

The Mad Hatters afternoon tea menu features delectable savoury bites, including smoked salmon quails egg with caviar and cream cheese, and melt-in-your-mouth King of Hearts parmesan croque-monsieur stack.

Completing the experience, come face to face with Tweedle Dee’s lemon and curd financier before enjoying the mocha chessboard gateau and with the Mad March Hare vanilla pocket watch macaroon, there’s no excuse to be late for this important date! Wash everything down with Alice’s cinnamon, apple and peach “Drink Me” potion and for the afternoon tea traditionalists, finish up with warm scones clotted cream and fruit preserves.

Diverse flavours and eclectic recipes make Sanderson in Fitzrovia a favourite in London’s fashionable West End. Goodge Street Tube Station is a 6-minute walk away.

The settings and services are lovely but the food is average either too sweet or too salty.

It was very busy and noisy not a normal quaint afternoon tea experience.
The food was really nice and service was great.

Terrible Afternoon Tea. We were taken to our table and had a selection of 5 teas put in front of us with cards detailing the flavours and told we could also have hot chocolate or coffee if we wished. After that the service effectively ended. Our tea order was taken and the food stands arrived (after a very long wait). We never again saw a waitress/waiter we were not asked if we wanted more drinks or food we were not checked on at all. In addition we were disgusted to see that the white tea pots which are the show piece of the 'Mad Hatter' theme were filthy the spouts and lids were black with old tea stains and looked like they had barely ever been cleaned. We did initially want to order champagne and cocktails but were totally put off and since no body ever came to the table getting them proved a challenge also. To be charged £48 for this is an utter disgrace and I would advise any reader to avoid this at all costs. We were so thirsty at one point that my sister in law was drinking her own water which she brought in her bag and this still did not alert staff to their lack of effort. Shambolic is all I can rate it as. we had booked this as a special treat for my daughters 12th birthday and felt cheated out of her special experience.

Overall enjoyed the experience. However Felt it was expensive for what we got. The savouries were the best part of the food.

It was a lovely place! The high tea was cute, some things were quite dated and could use with some new cups, plates etc! We had to keep asking for a menu, more drinks, napkins (which never came - I had to get up to get some) and it was for my 40th birthday!!!!!! I felt it wasn't that special!
The food was okay! I have eaten better/cheaper high teas!

This was a birthday gift and some of the comments online made me wonder whether I had made the right choice. Well fear not as other than service a little slow and the restaurant a little too hot everything was superb. The member of staff serving us was very attentive and knowledgable and made the experience so much more enjoyable. The food was excellent and plentiful with the cost covering everything but alcoholic drinks. We were invited to ask for replinshment of any items from the afternoon tea as and when required. The savoury items were delicious especially the crab and scotch quail egg. Yes the cakes can be a tad sweet but isn't that what it is all about?! The sweet items are plentiful but small enough to enjoy all we think. Such care and detail to each item. My only big complaint was that the 'drink me' potion didn't reduce me to a size 8 (but it was very nice)!! A lovely afternoon was had by my Sister and me.

The afternoon tea dining area was a really beautiful setting and the food was delicious.
The service itself wasn't great, whether you were short staffed or particularly busy I don't know but we were left waiting for 20 minutes to be seated and then had to wait a while for our food. There weren't many waitresses in sight and we also requested a pot of tea which took a while to be brought over. Definitely not worth the "optional" service charge of 15% when you're already paying £48 per head. It's not that the staff weren't friendly just that the service itself was a bit stretched.
