We wanted a small, independent restaurant with quality cooking and atmosphere for a birthday celebration and Salut! provided it all. Great tasting food - colourful and fresh. The goat's cheese salad, cod and carrot cake were especially enjoyed (not all on the same plate). We would certainly want to come back for a full menu in the evening.

The food was good - standard modern european fare, the Angus ribs were good but the fish dishes weren't all that great. The 5 cheese platter had only 4 cheeses! Wine selection was reasonable. The staff felt a bit pushy, I was messaged earlier in the day to confirm the table. I replied to confirm with a request to hold the table in case we were delayed. I got a message back warning me that there are bookings after us and we may have to vacate the table. The restaurant was empty when we reached (ahead of time) and only one more table was occupied the entire time we were there. My partner who specifically asked for a "not so rich" dessert was suggested a "100% chocolate with hot sauce". When she left it half eaten the chef came over to ask her why, and started arguing with her when she simply said that she didn't like it. What was until then a reasonably good evening ended with a bad taste in the mouth. Overall, at £65 per head not worth the attitude we got from the chef. Islington is so full of choices that we won't even be thinking about returning!

The food was beautifully presented and delicious. The salmon starter was lovely, the trout very tasty and the apricot pavlova was scrumptious.
It wasn't cheap but good for a special dinner.
