Sagardi Basque Country Chef´s showcases authentic Basque cuisine in the centre of the trendy Shoreditch neighbourhood in London. Sitting inside the historical building, Cordy House, an artistic icon from the 1880s, Sagardi strives to ensure the design reflects Basque aesthetics.
Sagardi boast an impressive open Basque grill which showcases their grill masters expertise in chargrilling the famous “txuleton” beef steak from northern Spain, fresh wild fish from trusted sea ports and seasonal vegetables from their own gardens.
The restaurant’s red meats are carefully selected from the mature, fattened setters and cows whilst at their peak in flavour at a minimum of six years old. This incredible tasting meat comes to life with its uniquely clean and distinctive flavours from the land, milk and grass all shining through.
The Sagardi menu also boasts “Basque Pintxos” which are proudly ranked as number 1 “best foodie experience in the world” by Lonely Planet. Good atmosphere but very overpriced. Steak was average at best.

Arrived at the restaurant on what was a rainy day, looking forward to the experience I had previously read about Sagardi. The moment you stepped through the doors, the ambiance and decor of the place takes over. The dimly lit restaurant, decorated with wooden tables, with a bar and it’s very own butchery! The whole place encompasses the Basque experience. We were the first in the restaurant but it was clear the team were getting ready for the evening and allowed us to take in the atmosphere. While one of the waiters was preparing the meat table to showcase to the ensuing punters. I was very impressed with the wine list which is was one of the most extensive I had seen! Not a wine connoisseur but I’m sure it is ideal for those who are. Loved the small details of the wine glass and cups. When choosing the meat, the waiter spoke very knowledgeably about what we may like as a group of three and what would be the ideal weight of the steak that would satisfy our pallet. The service was first class, Lucia, looked after us very well. Always checking we were ok, topped up necessary drinks. The meal was delicious and the meat which was served was perfect as we don’t think we could have eaten more. Overall a first class experience.

Being from the Basque country, I discovered a little secret in Shoreditch. the traditional cuisine arrived and such well represented in this restaurant. The pintxos already told me that I was in a good restaurant. The staff is very kind and helpful. the management team has a lot of knowledge of the product that is being offered. We will definitely come back really soon!

Amazing Basque restaurant with marvelous products. Like in the Basque Country, you will find the classic txuleton steak, fresh fish and many other famous dishes: tortilla de bacalao, the morcilla and a very tasty txangurro. I will recommend the Piquillo pepers, delicious, the Tolosa alubias, and of course, the best meat in the city. It's like to be at home. Just perfect!

What a gold mine. My colleagues and I had booked the meeting room at this restaurant and afterwards decided to have dinner. Wow - we were not disappointed! Everything from the service to the ambiance was second to none. Especially if you are a meat lover you must check this place out, incredible meat cuts from old dairy cows cooked on the grill right in front of you! Without doubt be returning.
