Having spent 10 years working under the tutelage of Michelin-starred Alain Ducasse in London and Paris, it’s no surprise that Executive Chef Alexandre Nicolas' menu takes inspiration from Italian and French dining traditions. With an interior designed by Italian architect and designer Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel and Partners, Rivea restaurant in London brings the spirit of the chic French and Italian Riviera to the Bulgari Hotel at the heart of the British capital.

Focusing on utilising simple and fresh ingredients to bring out the flavours, the Rivea London menu is vibrant and bold. Inspired by the bustling food markets in Italy and Provence, the Mediterranean menu features the likes of warm octopus and potato salad, and aubergine caviar. Main courses from the Rivea London menu include line-caught tuna with sautéed vegetables and agrodolce sauce, and seared beef fillet, crushed potatoes with olive oil.

A carefully-selected wine list complements the menu, showcasing small artisanal producers alongside iconic winemakers, all sourced from France and Italy.

Offering elegant cuisine and a relaxed ambience, Rivea London in Knightsbridge sits 2 minutes’ walk from Knightsbridge Tube Station.

The dining room is beautiful but probably suited better for a dinner location than lunch as it is in the basement. The staff were attentive and the offer menu was perfectly good but certainly not outstanding (against other restaurants that we dine at, as a group). The unpleasant surprise was the wine list - which started at £48 for a run of the mill Gavi (£28 for a carafe). When discretionary service of 12.5% was then added on top of the pricey wines and aperitifs - we thought that it was excessive/disproportionate and asked for it to be removed so that we could add service at a more reasonable level. This was done but we were made to feel that we were being cheap. We paid over £500 for 6 of us - so a bit silly.

My starters were absolutely delicious! The presentation was delightful and the quality of food outstanding . I had their famous Carpaccio made with wild sea bass, ginger and lime, and served with a Amalfi lemon and garnishes of caper berries, Tropea onion, beautiful borage flowers, seaweed and salmon eggs.! Amazing! My mains and chocolate tart dessert was stunning! Such a special dining experience. Very special indeed.

This was the third time I have dined at the Rivea. When my partner and I arrived another guest was already there. The attentive staff united us immediately and when the fourth of our number came we were escorted to our table, cosily arranged in an alcove. I now judge the staff attitude by the reaction to the request for tap-water. No attempt was made to change our order and our glasses were kept topped up throughout the meal. A small fun detail at the start of the meal were twelve little taster pots and small crostini dippers. The game is to taste a pot and identify the flavours. There is a crib sheet to check whether you are right.
The included cocktails we had with our starters were of generous proportion. Only the youngest member of our party managed to eat all of the two starters, main course and dessert. This was partly due to our inability to resist the delicious selection of home-made breads, placed on the table at the outset. The service was friendly without being over familiar and added greatly to our enjoyment.

Good food, service a bit slow at times but acceptable, took care of special diet very well. Not everything on the sample menu was available but accommodated my child's special request

Really enjoyable with incredibly attentive and friendly staff. The breads were terrific (and bread sticks with various dips!) and the meal was also delicious, with the Tiramisu a particular highlight. Nice cocktail in the hotel bar beforehand too.

Rivea is very stylish and classy. We had a drink at the bar first which set the scene for a great meal. The staff were welcoming and professional. We had selected the special offer of 4 courses and a cocktail for £38 per person and were very happy with the menu choices and the quality of the cocktail. The food was excellent and well presented. The wine list is pricey but that is to be expected at a Michelin star restaurant. Overall the special offer was good value and we very much enjoyed the experience.

The restaurant and food are both impressive. Scrumptious bites, delicious bread and perfect portions. Our service was wonderful at the beginning and then I think we fell off the radar of the staff because we had to specifically call someone over to clear our main dish plates and we waited so long for that to happen, that we decided to request dessert for take away because we needed to get on our way. But generally, the staff is well-intentioned, friendly, not stuffy, and quite helpful.
